I would be very suprised if there was absolutely no pressure from the ad companies. That one of them no longer gives ads to the site is a measurable fact.

However, as radixius pointed out in another thread, [en.wikipedia.org] So It Has Come To This is a title of this thread. And that particular episode was emitted on April the 1st.

most of us don't have credit cards and of course there are some site which offer online transaction one of them is "pay pal"

for me online transactions can be covered direct to or from your bank account for those who's not familiar whit it and unsure weather to trust it or not you can make a front account (as long as the bank allows it!) wich contains only a limited amount of monye for the online transaction.

that's how i would like to pay if this site runs by donations or payment.

if your unfamiliar whit paypal! then find other online banking sites that may or can help you in the future just to be ready.

Suggestion (perhaps already mentioned): You could make access to the now filtered content available through payment only - like, say, a monthly subscription - and don't display ads for those users. Of course I don't know, but maybe the advertisers won't complain if you don't display their ads in conjunction with the filtered content.
I don't know how many would be willing to pay for this, but I know I would - there were many times this site was the only place that still had a specific thing I was searching for.

Ummm, yeah...I think guro has already been hit, at least for me. When I searched by filter, I got 35 hits, and they were all ones who had guro in the title, but not in the tags. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

I just donated using Paypal, let's help Tenboro out!

If only there were some site that has all the stuff that's gone presented in a familiar package.

I've read the 33ish pages of text, and I understand the 'hidden meaning' (if you could even call it that) of a few key members. All things considered, I didn't really realize how much I appreciate Tenboro and his work until this most recent update.

Exactly. I got the hidden meaning yesterday, but revenue is still required to run a large site like this, and "hidden" doesn't pay the bills. I actually donated for all the stuff I already got, but took for granted until it came down to the crunch.

Having said that, maybe we should stop talking about hidden meanings (myself included starting now!). If people haven't figured it out from the thread so far, they aren't going to, and it may fuck up things further.

Those who don't come to the forum won't actually know what happened since they haven't read this thread, so either they will continue on in blissful ignorance or they will notice something's up and head to the forums to investigate in which case they should be intelligent enough to find what they need.
