What are you even on about? Files were always getting resampled for viewing, now in higher quality and smaller file sizes. Original images continue to be available.

I thought it also applied to the original archive downloads.

And that the webp format lowered the image quality overall with artefacting compared to the older jpeg/png pics posted in the galleries

To add more detail, the resamples were always jpg, a resampled archive contained the resampled jpgs. An original archive contains the original files.

The webp files are targeting roughly the same filesize as the jpg resamples were, meaning you are getting better quality resamples for the same filesize. This wasn't done to save bandwidth.

Hey, I've encountered a problem with gallery pages not loading, specifically on firefox. For some reason whenever you click the image or the next arrow, it doesn't actually go to the next page unless you refresh/f5 (Which gets annoying immediately). I tried it out on Brave and Edge and the problem doesn't seem to be there. You mind looking into this Tenboro? I'm not sure if it's a firefox update that's caused this since I can't remember how recent the last one was and when I was browsing galleries.

i just noticed the galleries resampled to webp now display the thumbnails in 4 rows with 5 larger thumbnails.

is that intentional ? or is there a setting that i missed ?
especially for galleries with a larger number of images i would prefer the "old" display with 4 rows and 10 smaller thumbnails in each row

There's a setting you missed. Look under settings, maybe.

indeed, sorry =( i totally missed that one above the number of rows setting.

i was confused because the webp resampled galleries' thumbnails werde displayed with fewer, large thumbnails and thought there might be some sort of bug.

It just defaults to the larger thumbnails for galleries that use v2 image handling, since most people seem to prefer them, and the system was specifically designed to allow for them to be the default.

Older unconverted galleries still have separate files for the large thumbs, so it can't really default to them for those for performance/cost reasons.

Can somebody tell me what I need to do to stop my Image size setting from lowering to 1280x or Auto by itself? It happens randomly and I have no real idea what causes it. When it happens, if I try to set it back, it stays at 1280x or Auto until I wait a day or two, then I can change it back. But it will typically happen again as soon as I browse a few high-res images.

I got the needed hath perks and plenty of Image Limit points so I see no explanation for this.

See the patch note for 2024-08-26. If your IP hits the resource cap it will stop allowing high-res images and automatically switch the setting back to "Auto", this is documented and working as intended. To not be affected by other people, you'd need to get an account-based limit, either with a donation star or the More Pages hath perk.

Apparently this will be my last gallery since out of nowhere the submit option gives me this "You have been permanently banned from submitting galleries to this system." so the 506 galleries on queue will remain unpublished.

Is this working as intended? They were a hard-working uploader posting many popular cosplay galleries every day. I was wondering when they'd be back from "vacation" and just today found that comment they posted on their last gallery uploaded, on 2024-12-14.

We won't be able to re-enable uploading for that user, no. But these bans are not a subject for public discourse.
