Possible dumb question, but I don't fully understand all the terms in use here. And not sure how recently some things on the wiki have been updated. Based on here: https://ehwiki.org/wiki/DownloadingBasically, if a gallery is new-ish, or medium-ish but off-peak hours, you can download individual source images without consuming GP/Quota - just Viewing Limit, which is (basically) free. (Or if you're a donator, I suppose, but I'm not so that's moot.) So if you know the post date of a gallery, and the current time, you can know if it's going to be free or not. Did any of that change? Since I see a bunch of Quota-related things got rejiggered, especially with regards to if you have that hath perk (and while I'm not a donator, I do have that perk). I don't think so, I read it mostly just in regards to who can share your Quota, but again, not quite sure. To be clear, I'm not asking for rules to change - just making sure I understand what said rules are.

Did any of that change? Not really, no.

QUOTE(Marius8 @ Aug 26 2024, 21:08) I have 3 search tabs constantly open, and when I reload them after some usually the timestamps of new results are printed bold. The last few days (not sure, when exactly it started) the bold timestamps don't happen anymore for me.. Edit 2024.08.27 20:00UTC: yesterday i complained, and today it's working again... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) and broke again.. Is the information for this stored on server or client (browser) side?

I found that the download speed using http from the two urls “encvgvvzml.hath.network” and “taopjgvkhp.hath.network” is too slow, and the 2-thread or single-thread download speed is less than 50KB/s.Other links such as “cipvxqwzvk.hath.network”, “roxysxyymp.hath.network” and “xecemudyvf.hath.network” have normal speeds, usually above 1MB/S.These problems seem to have occurred after the domain name of the http download was changed. Is it a problem of the region and ISP?

Can single-character searches be allowed for Chinese?
There are characters with single-character names, like 镜 and 瑶 , and it's hard to find all the galleries with their name in the title to review them for tagging because they aren't searchable.

It's not really possible in general for the indexer to distinguish between common unicode characters and rare unicode characters, so I don't see that happening.

Thumbnails have been changed from img elements to background styles of div elements. DIV elements with no content lose the rectangular size they occupy, making it difficult to dynamically adjust styling with user CSS. For example, height: auto on width: calc(100vw / 6) no longer works (the element's height becomes 0 and it is hidden).
It is also of concern that delayed loading with loading="lazy" does not work when loading images with the background-image style.
Is there room for reconsideration of the new DOM structure?
Thank you as always.

The same way small thumbnails work now?

Pretty much, except WebP and with a different internal pipeline for making them.

WebP would be a problem for me. I came here to see if there was a way to revert the 20 thumbnails per page back to 40, but WebP without fallback would be a bigger issue.

Gonna have to update that pre-2019 browser some day. Five years of being supported by the major browsers is about our cutoff for adopting new useful tech. WebP is too significant of an upgrade to put off any longer, and generating a whole other set of thumbs as a fallback for the ~4% who still use older browsers that don't support it would be prohibitively expensive. You can still do 40 per page though.

Why am i suddenly seeing such big thumbnails when inside a galery? They are almost large enough to read the pages without having to click on them.

The default thumbnail size was changed, though it was only supposed to change for galleries with v2 images, which will be fixed. You can change the size from the settings page.

Is this related to the new error message I'm getting from my e-h browsing userscript? It's been giving me "Error message: Error: parsing img html failed. It may be in Large mode" all of today, worked perfectly fine yesterday. Nothing in settings that I can see about "Large". It's only broken on exh, but everything works fine on e-h. Both browser and iOS are giving the same error. This post has been edited by saturnine: Oct 26 2024, 01:29

Thank you for your reply! By tiling, do you mean a fixed grid of predefined sizes? Personally, I'd be happy if it were possible to "lazy load" and "specify width + adaptive height".

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but I thought I'd report it.
Only in Fjord, downloads of the resample archive via H@H seem to be inactive. Only the original archive is active (clickable).
Can anyone else reproduce this? Is this a known issue?
