> Regarding loss of compatibility with older Android versions starting from January 2021

We have received a head's up from Let’s Encrypt about an upcoming compatibility issue that will affect and possibly prevent visitors using older versions of Android from loading images through H@H after January 2021.

Starting January 11, 2021, Let’s Encrypt will be changing their certificates in such a way that Android users running versions 7.1 and earlier will encounter a warning when they try to visit a site using a TLS certificate from Let’s Encrypt. Simply, this is because those older versions of Android have not been updated since 2016 and do not trust the root certificate that Let’s Encrypt will begin using beginning January 11, 2021. The sites will still be HTTPS, despite the warning, as the certificates are trusted by every major browser.

If you wish to view galleries on older versions of Android after this date, you will likely need to download a browser with a separate updated cert store, such as the the [www.mozilla.org] Firefox Mobile Browser.

Note that we will not be making any changes on our end to maintain compatibility with older versions of Android.

Update: Apparently they found a workaround for this, so it will still work for the time being.

Look like I'm not the only one having cursed hands that switch "for" and "from".
Should have been "for" in the quote (or something completely different), otherwise we're calling old something from 2 months in the future (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

No, it's correct, it's 'starting from...' though it's a little ambiguous, I guess.

It's correct, and not even ambiguous if you read it all :

That "begin ... beginning" it's stylistically awful imho, though.

It was the title alone I was referring to, and the boss has edited it. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I didn't even write that bit, it's boilerplate directly from LE.

I refuse to believe 10b wrote the title that way. You two are just making stuff up.

All hail the great leader~

I've already been getting more and more certificate errors, but none from e-h yet. I'll probably have to buy a new phone before long, as aps are also dropping support.

There's something to be said about using platforms that are independent of the Big Two (i.e. Google in the case of Android and Apple in the case of iOS). For instance, my W10M phone can use - albeit experimentally - Windows on ARM, and other phones can presumably use Linux. As long as the hardware (and driver support) holds out, at least we won't have to worry about the software side, necessarily.
