Wiki Migration, Not related to the ongoing bird migration, supposedly |

The wiki has been migrated to a new server and updated to the latest version, which means it is now also running on a new version of pretty much everything.
Let me know here if you encounter any issues with the new server/software stack.
Note that if you were previously using a weak password, chances are it's going to ask you to change it.
Edit: Fixed broken account mails.
Edit 2: Account mails should now also work even when the remote MTA does not support TLS.

Not sure if this is just placebo or not, but the wiki now loads much faster for me. One minor problem: Donno if this is just me or not, but the navbox border is a bit messed up after the update. [ imgur.com] https://imgur.com/wyZWjfU

Yeah, it's a ton better. I did always used to get a weird bug where it would take ages for the DNS to resolve before specifically on ehwiki.org but this update seems to have fixed it. I'm not sure if it was even something to do with the old software version.

[ imgur.com] https://imgur.com/wyZWjfULooks fine in Firefox, just a bit borked in Chrome. Probably not related to the migration. Could be due to software changes, could be due to IPv6 support, could be because it's a different physical server and host.. or maybe a combination of the three.

Wow nice! There are many more permission grants now. Will take a while for me to get used to it.

Didn't know that this was needed but faster is better. Thanks!

I used to have frequent server failures over the last few months (server nt responding at all before a bit of time), but did not say anything about it. It seemed like if calling a page of the wiki caused the failure itself.
As long as I still can work on the pages I managed, I'm fine.

I think it's indeed that. The render of the border-style: ridge isn't the same on Firefox and Chromium. Chromium try to make it fancy oob, so I guess something messed up in the other css applied to the box. [ developer.mozilla.org] https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/We...SS/border-styletl;dr: use firefox (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Great change, I also see the Wiki working way faster than before. QUOTE(nasu_sensei @ Nov 2 2020, 16:51) QUOTE(uareader @ Nov 2 2020, 16:41) Tables do have a bit more of a blue tinge to them now, yeah. [ web.archive.org] https://web.archive.org/web/20200127014203/...org/wiki/SpellsI used web archive, but could not find a version that "look familiar". Maybe at some point there were scripts/css, and the archive don't have them...or I'm just getting more dementia (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

Just got one small issue, there aren't any formatting options at the top of the editor anymore. I'm used to mediawiki formatting syntax by now but it was nice to have.

Looks like they removed the old visual editor in favor of a new one that has to be enabled as an extension. It seems a little bit buggy permission-wise, but I've enabled it for now. (There's still a source edit mode, for those so inclined.)

Didn't notice it disappeared lol. Just tried it, worked well enough, basically a WYSIWYG editor now, so seeing changes made live is pretty nice, people editing tables will probably get a lot of use out of it

QUOTE(uareader @ Nov 2 2020, 19:44) I used web archive, but could not find a version that "look familiar". I experimented a bit with inline editing on Firefox, and I did manage to get some feeling of familiarity on the Spells page when reducing some content of the first columns (containing a spell image and spell name) to a width of 2 digits (thus not being incredibly wide). Since the web archive didn't work, I still have no clue why I end up feeling that way 🤔
