That thing's carbed, isn't it. Not used to seeing the carb encapsulated like that. Is there a reason for it, or just aesthetic?
Its been a while since I was looking at this, but it is a slightly older high end design, possibly with high end individual throttle bodies. The intakes are optimized for airflow speed and pattern which gives better low end torque and high end power. It makes a bigger difference if it was supercharged.
edit: could also be for a methanol injection system, I forgot those are popular still even though we have newer full ethanol systems.
edit2: Might just be part of the package with teh ICE digital ignition amp, so the engine can be tuned better and use a MAF? Some people going for big NA numbers or NA racing get setups like that.
The newer designs are a ramjet style, where they have a bigger intake/s designed to funnel in air at speed. Well designed ones do work, which surprised everyone, then all the NA boys were getting for a while.
The powdercoating can improve intake a tiny bit, but with special coatings can improve the exhaust manifold performance quite a bit (5-10%). Doesn't look like their exhaust is coated though.
I also wanted to get my pistons coated but apparently they weren't sure on the longevity even though it can boost performance 5%ish?
