Wiper motor's fixed, but now my transmission is failing. At the very least, the overdrive unit on it has definitely failed.
Yes, I tried purging the fluid.
God dammit.
I do have an OD unit on another car that I can steal, but I have never done this before.
Also the transmission's the same as the one in some late 90's and maybe early 2000's models of Toyota Tacoma, so if it comes down to it it should be somewhat easy to find a whole new one, I think?
Would still much rather swap a manual in… but ugh. So much work either way. I think I remember the synchros were going bad on the manual I've got. And I'd have to replace the drive shaft to get a different gearing ratio for the manual to get decent fuel economy. And I'd need to find a shifter boot. And I would need to find someone with a lift I can take up for a day or two, and a day or two that I can just work on it and do nothing else. Why does life have to be so hard? I mean, yeah, I bring this on myself, but really.

As a fellow owner operator of old high milage vehicles, I offer my sympathy but meaningfull advice.
Doing a brake job on the bimmer. 4 rotors, the pads, parking brake shoes + hardware, brake wear sensors, and some fresh brake fluid. Calipers and pins should be just fine still.
Truck could probally use some attention to the rear brakes, but it's old and rusty enough I'm half afraid to touch anything chassis that doesn't need it. Not too long ago I did it's front brakes entirely- pads, rotors, wheel bearings, calipers, brake hoses, brake lines.

I changed out everything, calipers, pads, rotors.
I need to change my battery though, they seem to die a day after the warranty expires.
"We are trying to jumpstart our air conditioning" me: ???????
It actually could be an electrical air conditioning problem. My parents' 2018 volvo uses an electric motor for cranking the compressor instead of the engine.
Still, it's not the battery if the car is starting. And I cringed at everything else in that video.
Also my transmission is indeed fucking dead.
Oh well. 300k miles on a shit automatic transmission's doing pretty well as far as I'm concerned. And although the odo was stuck in my parts car, its transmission might still be under 150k-200k (stuck at 129k miles; no idea how long it was stuck for).

I don't know why people who buy utes need headlights that can pierce the space time continuum.
I hate having retinas fried every time one of these bogan fuckwits decide to drive at night.
And they use them all the fucking time and don't turn the high beam off when approaching other cars.

Yeah, I am pretty sure here it is illegal to drive with jumpers connected to another car. That video also misses the first half of the cringefest.
They all have phones, couldn't they literally google up a diagnosis and realise that what they are doing doesn't make sense?

Americans just do this but with higher-lifted pickup trucks. And light bars.

Googling car problems never works for me. Ever. Not without spending an hour digging.
Too many people giving bad/wrong advice.

I guess it depends if there is a hardcore technical following for your model. My car is so well documented that the communities find issues before the manufacturer does and reports it to them.
