QUOTE(grumpymal @ Apr 1 2013, 15:23) I downloaded a giant-ass DOS games pack just to play some old Sierra games. Because I'm a masochist, if that wasn't already apparent by the fact that I played HV for so long. Also nostalgia goggles. I never beat any of them as a kid, so now that I'm a grown up I should be able to.
Well, are you?

You're not old enough if you're still that naive.

How about excluding the arenas which have under 20 rounds from riddler? The early arenas have so few rounds that the riddler event between round 1 and 2 are tedious, and they can only be done once a day so its not like there is much room for cheating there.

You'd be surprised at how many artifacts you can get if there was no riddlers. Tenb put them up to mess around with bots so that the reduced stamina would lead to 0% EXP gains and credits. I don't think he's going to take them off for the whims of humanity. About the Riddlemaster, maybe a buff to his Blessing would be in order since people hate it so much. Like a short Heartseeker and Arcane Focus with increased critical rates. Since puzzles require a balance between dexterity and intellect, why not have the Blessing make you an awesome critical hit machine?

The botters will make dozens of accounts which do nothing but the first few arenas for the clearing cash/drops.

Couldn't they make hundreds of accounts for the daily dawn credit bonus and post that even in spam threads anyway? We must add Riddlemasters at dawn!

QUOTE(xmagus @ Apr 1 2013, 02:14) HVSTAT, try it out.
Actually, all the information you need is there. Round 1, out of a 108-round item (a Fine, in my case).
HVSTAT just makes it easier to see, and there are other scripts that are more lightweight doing the same thing.
Just do the arithmetic yourself, I guess.
Slaps self in face. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) I never even noticed that the first line listed the number of the round. Thank you for pointing it out. I was always so focused on the amount of damage the monsters did or what randomly dropped that I honestly never even noticed the info was staring me right in the face. Maybe I should go back to lurking. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/lurk.gif)

QUOTE(Maximum_Joe @ Mar 31 2013, 21:00) And it's been on that list for how many years now? That whole wiki page was created in June 2012 and skill shortcuts were there already. I'm simply trying to nag a bit to have them added since making skills work like spells seems to be much less work than, say, revamping action speed, creating the forge system, making an item shop bot...

^This. Seriously. Skills need to be less tedious to use.

QUOTE Lement Thought just of an epic if imbalanced theoretic spell: Lement the id for spells is [1][element number][tier number][dimensions] Lement dimensions is either 0 for single-targets or 1 for AoE. Lement A 2-dimensional spell would hit all mobs in a battle series. A 3-dimensional spell would hit all mobs you face until next dayroll(?). A 4-dimensional spell will hit all monsters you'll ever face, I'd guess. Lement What would a 9-dimensional spell hit? Lement Also, looking at it a 5-dimensional spell would probably hit all mobs in existence already '<' I hereby propose 2,3 and 4-dimensional first tier spells as rare, very rare and award items. Item slots shouldn't only be potions! This post has been edited by Lement: Apr 2 2013, 15:17

given 4d spells op-ness, they should honestly just be a trophy thing, or like an infusion, but on yourself, with no time limit, and with a max stack of two or three.
Ooh, or, 4d hits all mobs for two weeks, and 5d hits for 3 months, and 6d hits for a year? Not as accurate, but more easily balanced...
Also, I guess it would be calculated at the beginning of each round: i.e. have a T1 fire, T2 holy, and T3 dark go off at no action speed cost (from a 5d, 3d, and 2d, respectively).
For the award ones, maybe have an ethereal element? Or would that set void on the path to becoming the new soul damage?

Wait, wait, wait. Are you suggesting that if I invoke a 4th-dimension T1 spell, throughout all eternity it will hit all mobs once per round? Something like an Innate Arcana for offensive spells? That sounds cool! Level 5: Auto-casts on all enemies once per TURN Level 6: Ignore enemy resists Level 7: Auto-procs debuffs on all enemies Level 8: Double-casts every turn Level 9: Stacks with OTHER Level 9 T1 spells, 50% mana discount Yeah, that sounds all right to me. And, I would make it a passive power; maybe only while you have it in your battle inventory slots (that way, you can decide the order as well). And maybe, only while you have a Staff as weapon.

xmagus: I didn't think of having it hit every turn, only at the beginning of round.
But think more of dimensions(point, line, square, cube...).
Also, the range could be limited akin to how AoE spells are planned to be more like current domino.
Making stronger is upping tier though. And consumption is quite necessary to have any drop rate - can still consume MP indeed, though current AoEs aren't per-mob.
destructorspace: Indeed, those are something on the comparative scale of daemon duality.

I got that, mostly. The thing is, when you talk about offensive spells, there are only a few dimensions/attributes possible. You've extended them to no. of enemies hit and duration of effect. Damage done is relegated to Tier. Therefore, other dimensions/attributes have to be considered. From once a round to once a turn seems to extend it as far along the time axis as possible. So, there's enemy avoidances (which is why I only targeted resist) and the debuff procs. Number of casts per turn and having more than 1 kind of offensive spell fire off every turn just sounded cool.

Hm. You have a point...
Anyway, another suggestion: Make doubleclick fill an entire tank in ability tree if sufficient AP.

New trainings. -Infusions on weapons works longer. +1 minute for each level. 5-10 levels. -Bonus for gems (my Cure heals more, than Health Gem). -Bonus for finding trophies from legendary monsters on 220+ arenas.
