Was it all that interesting, though?

I mean, sure, it's funny the first few times I kill ChosenUno (your monster is really squishy at the moment), but after a while, it just becomes another button on my NumPad.

Having PvP would definitely increase the battle length, though - and maybe it would work if debuffs were specifically disabled. Can you imagine slugging it out for the duration of 10 Mana Elixirs and 3 Spirit Elixirs? I'd expect to reap 5% of the other player's inventory if I won in such a fight.

It would certainly add a whole new dynamic to the WTB/WTS forums...

How would that be different that playing against IWBTH FSM?

Turns to kill ChosenUno on IWBTH: 4
Turns to kill FSM on IWBTH: 400+

MP pots used on ChosenUno: 0
MP pots used on FSM: 2

Times buffs/debuffs were recast on ChosenUno: 0
Times buffs/debuffs were recast on FSM: >10

Quite a difference there, I'd say.

Times ChosenUno has killed you>times FSM has killed you (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I like how it makes Negation Shade(anti-silence, anti-mage) and 1h(stunning counter/anti-silence or mage/sometimes can call 5-turn stun on turn 4) useful.

The battle would go like this: Negation/arcanist Shade enters battle. If a spell is cast against it, too bad - it melees you.

If you were stunned you're SOL: the shade-wielder can get OC for shield bash indefinitely and keep it on indefinitely with full set of agile shade, agile shield, them having haste on and wasting a turn to imperil you in order to burn cooldown. Hopefully that silence went through all that evade, block and resist....

You're wearing heavy? hope the opponent doesn't open with silence. Possible due meta.

An option of dw clubs+dovahkiin: Potential higher stun chance on few initial strikes. Won't last long enough to chain fus ro dah though I think. However, versus 1h can still be randomly stunned with counter. This build could potentially work with charged cloth though to get silence through.

As for 46 mins to save equips/inventory - yes they would, or not participate at all.

Return equipment drops to where they were a year ago as well as the quality. Playing on IWBTH now is pointless when you rarely get equipment and when you do, it's rarely better than "Fine". Oh, goody... A crude cotton shoe. What is really frustrating is how few Frugal/Charged equipment is for sale and only a couple are "Phase"... usually Pants for some reason.

What?

Your trainings must suck, then. I'm getting great stuff (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif). I think the current quality is just right. Not too high, not too low.

I have a suggestion.

Fund Mining

"Fund Mining" is a button exclusive to the crystals tab of the item shop. When pressed "you donate 1000 credits to the local guild to expedite the mining and shipping of that next load of crystals." Meaning that you spend 1000 credits to force the crystal tap to refill the crystals in the shop, with a 5 minute cool down for each user.

Alternatively, a "Mining expedition" button, where you pay to take a trip to the "mines" and buy crystals from temporary-user-exclusive-inventories.

Or, something similar to your "Mining expedition" idea, where you purchase N slots of crystals at 95% price or something, but you have no control over what crystals you receive.

Alternative alternative: buy a "stack" of crystals, logarithmically increasing from 10 to 10k, of a specific type, but it either adds a slight tax, or there's a random element which means the stack gives a range of 95% to 101% crystals - just to sweeten the pot enough to make it an option, but still be a more efficient moogle scam.

Doesn't have to be just crystals.

Anyhow, an idea: To make them more appetizing, how about having tokenizer multiply the rate of RoB refreshes as much as it multiplies token drop chances.

Why not include weapon (and other) skills in a keyboard shortcut?
I can attack, defend, focus, use spells, go spirit stance and basically do everything using the keyboard, but weapon skills require me to use the mouse unless using an external hack. That's a silly omission if you ask me.

RiddleMasters should be made predictable again. It's annoying going through a 100-round battle, sometimes getting 1 riddlemaster and sometimes getting 4.

Working as intended. Less predictable = less bot-friendly.

Um. If the bot cannot solve the RM, but instead relies on the human person, then regardless of whether there is 1, 10 or 100 per battle series, it doesn't really matter - the human still has to be (somewhere) around to answer it. Actually, as a non-bot player, I'd prefer more - refilling my HP/MP gauges is a really good idea. And, it also means that the bot has to keep alerting the human. At some point, it will be more sensible to just play the game rather than having constant interruptions.

And if the bot can solve the RM reliably, then it also doesn't matter how many there are - the bot will crunch through them like snowflakes anyway.

Let's be honest. True anti-bot systems introduce time delay. You let someone get away with it once or twice in a row, but successive attempts get lagged. How painful would it be if by the 5th wrong consecutive RM, it took 1s of real time per action? A normal human being probably won't get that many wrong in a row, so it won't hurt too many real people.

Prevents the bot from hammering the server too.

Yet another reason to make it less predictable: if you know one is due soon you can adjust your playstyle around it.

I'd just like to know how many rounds are left when I challenge the Item World. It's very frustrating having no idea how many more rounds you have to fight before winning. Most of the time nowadays I'm not even using my items but the gaming gets very mechanical when I have no idea when the endless battles will end. It also makes the occasional surprise KO extra annoying because I always feel like "damn, I'll bet that was the last round too!"

HVSTAT, try it out.

Actually, all the information you need is there.

0 1 Initializing Item World (Round 1 / 108) ...

Round 1, out of a 108-round item (a Fine, in my case).

HVSTAT just makes it easier to see, and there are other scripts that are more lightweight doing the same thing.

Just do the arithmetic yourself, I guess.

@Maximum_Joe: I don't think making a game more predictable makes it unenjoyable. I certainly don't think making a game easier makes it unenjoyable. Monkey Island CANNOT be made unwinnable (well, it can, but you would have to work really, really hard at it). Sierra games, on the other hand, are almost unwinnable by design. I don't think Dragon Quest X is therefore any better than Day Of The Tentacle.

So yeah, I'd adjust my playing style. Why should anybody complain about it?

I saw "Sierra" and was all "zomg other people play their games?!?!" I loved their ideas. Never thought their quality control was very commendable though (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Having your dick fall off (well, dying, but I think 'dick falls off' would have been more in the spirit of the game) because you forgot a condom when fucking the whore...? Priceless, and also unforgettable. I think that one was on purpose, you see.

I downloaded a giant-ass DOS games pack just to play some old Sierra games. Because I'm a masochist, if that wasn't already apparent by the fact that I played HV for so long. Also nostalgia goggles. I never beat any of them as a kid, so now that I'm a grown up I should be able to.
