The issue is not proficiency which is easy as heck to level, its that your phase suit gives a massive bonus to one and only one spell type out of the 6.
That phase suit is the most expensive investment in the game, and gives massive enough bonus to damage so that there is no reason to ever use anything other then your selected element.

So the question is then, which element you select for your one and only element. The elephant in the room is that monsters on average have high elemental resistance and low holy/dark resistance. So the only valid choices are holy and dark.

The issue is not with proficiency (gossamer) it is with EDB (phase). Of course, your suggestions COULD be applied to both EDB and proficiency.

what kind of trophies are you throwing in? If it's only from the boss, it's supposed to be crappy. Since your level is 149, high chance you are throwing the boss' thropies only.

decrease the drop/shrine chance of longswords and increase estocs. I get more katanas than estocs....
I am lucky if I get 1 estoc per 40 trophies.....................

I really don't have an issue with proficiencies (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I use a mixture of Elemental phase and Holy, because I haven't come across a Fenrir phase gear that
gives me what I wish..... yet

I was thinking more along the lines of ease of game play by rolling four proficiencies into just two and
instead of casting up to six spells, you only need to cast 2 for the same result.... that's all

Increase the amount of Chaos Tokens for higher difficulty settings. Even it grants 5 Tokens every time a Token Drops on IWBTH Normalfarming will still be better but at least you don't feel that punished for choosing a High Difficulty Setting.

Go with Innate Arcana first - especially since it sounds like you have ~100 Hath right now. At your level, having Spark and either Haste or Spirit Shield already cast going into an hourly will feel so awesome until you take it for granted - much more so than the +50% regen that Rainbow will eventually give you. Marginal mana consumption savings-wise, get rainbow before IA4 - at that point the -15% consumption won't do as much as the +50% regen, on a one-to-one Hath comparison, not to mention Rainbow's other benefits. Getting IA3 before Rainbow? That's for you to decide. I will say that I really like having SoL, SS, AND Haste always on, though.

On the subject of Hath Perk Auras - Can we get a tooltip or Bonus list, just like the primary auras, so we can see exactly what (HV) benefits we're getting from it? It just strikes me as odd, that the only information I get on mouseover is that both my black and white auras "[do] not consume any aura slots".

change crit chance to be additive as opposed to multiplicative, because there is little benefit to the additional crit chance afforded by balance equips once you reach a certain level due to diminishing returns.

That being said diminishing returns from multiplicative calculations affects a lot of the games mechanics negatively.
If a hard cap for more of the games mechanics was introduced additive calculations could be used more and bonus's could be provided for going over the cap.
For example having higher crit chance than the cap could boost the crit dmg, having higher parry than the cap could give anti-anti parry....(that sounds stupid but meh), same for evade with anti-anti-evade. Having a higher physical/magical mitigation than the cap could give reduction in critc chance from monsters.
