Which is good IMO, we always need variety.

Now for mages on the other hand, we still have to melt faces to get melted (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

PMI is amplified by protection, and numberically higher than evasion (plus shade armors tend to have a shitty roll).

And evasion works badly with regen.
And evasion works badly with SP shield.

And numerically 70-80% PMI (before protection) is not that hard, 60-70% evade OTOH is ...
And now elemental weapons kills a lot of evade.

Do you think it'd work if SV is changed so that it works identical to Protection, but for evade instead?

Mostly, but shade is supposed to be melee, that is, tougher than phase. (and practically shade's damage is much lower than phase)
Before current patch, with STR+END, it's kind of so.
Now PAB is nurfed, the gap is even closer...

DW fastest, surely.
One-Handed second, if only with successful blocks as it is now.
Niten Ichiryu third.

Magic missile gives same OC as whacking, none for other offensive spells.

DW gives overcharge for offhand strike if it procs (niten half of that)

Isn't that what HV is, D&D and Diablo have a demon spawn frankensteined with a few other RPGs? You've got a ragetastic drop mechanic, a malevolent GM, players whining about their twinked out chars getting pwned by balancing, etc. Though we are missing the whole "You enter a room..." stuff.
