Now i wonder how much damage would a dark/holy mage deal when using full plate armor of protection set. It would solve the spark problem for IWBTH run and maybe dealing more damage than melee using the same set. Right now if i use a full plate armor set, i would deal 1.5-2k damage without PA and 4-6k damage with PA. It takes 8-10 hits to kill a monster with 50k HP in BT.
I thought you were joking when you suggested mages take to plate. Surely you couldn't be serious?
Battlecaster Arcanist Shade barely works (by which I mean Arcanist + spellcasting as primary offense). It loses so much defense compared to a real Fleet/SD Shade setup it's basically Phase Evade plus a bit of PMI, and so much offense it can't even go the distance mages can. It's so bad it makes pure Elemental mage look
good.
Plate Battlecaster? 50%+ higher Mana Cost, no INT/WIS/EDB/Magic Accuracy boosts from armor at all. So, we get to be invulnerable until we die from running out of MP, which should happen about round 12. Yay.
In Phase, I have 1685 Magic Damage, 172% EDB, and 230 Effective Prof. If I used Plate, those numbers become 1125 Magic Damage, 42% EDB, 230 Effective Prof. So, my MP/Cold Damage ratio just went up by about 3, and that's before we take into account losing 1/3 of my Base MP and the Interference from Plate. At that point, I may as well pull out my spectacularly shitty Estoc and start just stabbing people.

And they keep saying mages are not OP.
Chamois, I'd like to lend you a full Exquisite Niflheim set. Use that exclusively for a week. Come back and tell me (Elemental) mages are OP (because we're the ones asking for X-Imperil) The Holy/Dark guys don't need it, they're bitching about RNG resists, we're bitching about set resists. Holy/Dark solves some of our problems, but not all of them.
Honestly though, picking an element that isn't Holy or Dark should not just be a 'kick me' sign to customs.
