No.
Gonna agree with this. No.
I honestly hate achievements, not for the achievements themselves but for the idiocy it has spun people into "gotta get them" "gonna play games just to buff my e-peen score" "wow you don't have <arbitrary personal point threshold> you must be lame", not to mention discarding all of that, it'd be a waste of time that could be spent on something more productive towards the game like more ability sets at higher levels, further balancing, new items or equipment..
plus that drive to come up with tons and tons of weird things for people to do... Everything you get from them would have to be very minor to deter people from just achievement whoring even worse, and anything hidden would be quickly found and posted how-to, taking out the exploratory fun you'd want in it.
...but also i just hate achievements altogether for dictating all the paths a game should or can be played, or the things you can do. Just make your own achievements for yourself. I hate loading up an old game on a new system such as ps1 classic or whatnot on the psn or something similar on XBLA, and being shown "YOU CAN DO THIS AND GET AN ACHIEVEMENT FOR IT"
then i don't care anymore, because it's already possible, there's even a sign built there to congratulate you.
When my friend (i think) finished a solo-calculator-only run of FFT (no other skills, basically reduced to poking everything with a stick), it was
amazing. if there had been an achievement for it, i'd have given him far less praise about it...
...well, that's just how i feel anyway. sorry for the rant.
