Maces aren't nerfed as much as you think, actually. Especially after T-bro halved the old Monster HP boost. Yeah, it deals a little less damage, but not too less. Because this:

Also, considering the current situation with monsters mace is the only working option for kevlar and still the best option for shade, because preventing your enemies from hits became even more important than before thanks to Chaos Upgrades.

But I agree. Forging ATM is relatively useless compared to its cost, simply because we haven't got a permanent/stable item structure yet. As long as Tenb continues to make drastic changes to the item's stat structures, forging will continue to be a gambling game.
It's a gambling game for the players who always "have too many irons in the fire". After 0.6.6 and its shards everybody were obsessed with heavy armor. After the 0.6.7 and its PAB boosts many players began to buy phase. I'm not sure which gear type will be the most popular now, but I couldn't care less. As usual. (IMG:[

The only things I've changed in my melee set for the last couple of months were a new mace (3 days before the 0.6.7) and new boots (5 days before the 0.6.8). So when everybody are spending a shitload of money to get a new set and forge it up - I'm just chillin' in the back with my good ol' forged kevlar set. (IMG:[
