@wr4st3r Just because it happens often doesn't mean it's alright. "It's the internet and that is bound to happen"? I don't think that's the right mentality for anyone that desires improvement. And honestly, I don't want to sound insulting but it hints at complacency - the masterful ingredient to disaster (bah risk management courses).
Well of course it's not alright, I just wanted to stress the inevitability of it: someone may not know there's rules (or stickies, or wikis etc, you get my point), someone might not care about them and so on.
Just because that happens doesn't mean there can't be improvement though...
And that's not insulting one bit, I understand what you're saying here^^

I think a separate forum section for auctions/shops respectively is a nice idea since the two attract different types of buyers, but I'm thinking it's not really going to appeal to T. It just means extra work for him. Thread credit toll on the other hand... Might appeal to him a tad more (although I assume it'd be minimal at best)
Uhm I'm not sure but, why would that mean extra work to Tenb?
I mean, creating a forum section takes like a couple clicks and will improve the section readability by a lot - while creating a toll system which can actually work without penalizing anyone takes some time.
Not that I care that much about it, with the existing threads there's pretty much zero need to create more, auctions aside...
That's why it looks like a waste of time to me, to even create a whole toll system, since aside from wtb/wts shops everybody will probably just create a new thread only when there's enough stuff to deserve an auction.
Paying to create threads looks like a weak deterrent to prevent spam by scaring people (with the risk of losing credits), but again, it's just my personal opinion on the matter...

Better moderation would be a nice solution on paper but there's just a few problems with that. We have a shortage of moderators as is. It's not a walk in the park being a diplomatic moderator and having to guide the newbies around - I've read a few threads in the past where posters were actually flaming Sayo (iirc). T doesn't look like he plans on promoting any moderators any time soon and I don't see Sayo come back anytime soon either.
I can't speak for T, but I don't really think the most populated section (behind General Chat, which incidentally contains the Spamhouse) on the site should be left without mods.
It's not like we lack skilled people though, there's guys who'd easily take my vote were they to apply for moderation, because of their knowledge of HV, dedication and activity.
Tenboro is the owner and he should pick people he trusts, but maybe we can help him pointing towards someone who's open for the spot and speed up the process, I dunno...
And to tell the truth, the majority of the work would actually be to lock threads and redirect users (to the wiki, stickies etc), plus deleting threads (auctions only if we think those should be deleted, otherwise there wouldn't even be a need for this with guidelines like the above): is really a strong diplomat needed for that?
Sure you don't want someone who will just yell at newbies and tell them to die in a car fire, but I don't recall anyone that bad around these parts lol...

There's no reason to split consumables and gear into separate threads. It's the same person buying.
Bump rule is not a big problem from what I've seen, *most* players are pretty respectful of that here.
There are no multiple auctions per user - that's counterproductive.
Those were just examples I threw there^^;;
I too wouldn't allow for more than a single thread, though when you create your own thread and you're looking for:
- Consumables
- Forge stuff
- Gear
- You're willing to
trade your gear/stuff for more gear/the above stuff
A single thread can get messy...
Not that I have a solution for that (I am guilty for that I guess lol, as I made two threads in the wtb section, one which I edit for consumables and one for equip upgrades), I was actually thinking about that right after posting :E
