QUOTE(Boggyb @ Oct 25 2010, 15:08) Wouldn't it make more sense to improve the other types of weapons? -Seriously increase the damage of clubs, increase their procs, and improve stun (have it half enemy MP/SP). -Decrease the parry on rapiers. -Make sword chucks more common/better.
while it's probably more logical, it also means alot more work for Tenb (or whoever is in charge of the technical side of the HV), plus, people use Rapiers for PA and Axes for the high Bleed damage, so even if you improve all the other weapons i still don't see Scythes or Estocs becoming a popular choice, specially against the Legendaries and above QUOTE(Boggyb @ Oct 25 2010, 15:08) Nerf does the first. Poison does the second. Slow does the third. Also, the combination of PA and Ether Theft would be beyond broken.
i forgot about ET, ok, that's another thing that Wands shouldn't have anyway, Nerf is only available to high level players and Poison is only used with PA (usually paired with Bleeding Wound btw), the whole idea here is to increase the number of possible equipment/spell combinations and to create new strategies and types of characters

I know there's lot of things that could make the HV more enjoyable or more balanced, but I'll just leave that to the high level players who know more than I do and have invested way more time into it and know how it works better than I currently do.
I'd like to suggest a new series of challenges though. We have the Arena, Grindfest, RoB, and IW, but what about something new? Something random, like instead of a random encounter we get a challenge from Snowflake or something, get offered a choice to fight a single round against tough monsters for a quick reward (maybe more credits than normal, more experience than normal, or something) or a short series of rounds for a better reward. I say make it random because then it doesn't distract from the other battle formats we have, and it sorta makes it more fun, hoping for a challenge instead of just the average random encounter.

Did they add additional effects when enemies take spike damage? I just had this happen:
1 19 Regen restores you with 86 points of health. 1 18 You evade the attack from Cockatrice. 1 17 You evade the attack from Mutant Peacock. 1 16 Your spike shield hits Mind Raper for 8 points of wind damage. 1 15 Mind Raper hits you for 65 crushing damage. 1 14 Your spike shield hits Blue Hedgehog for 25 points of wind damage. 1 13 Blue Hedgehog hits you for 198 crushing damage. 1 12 Manthra gains the effect Turbulent Air. 1 11 Your spike shield hits Manthra for 7 points of wind damage. 1 10 You parry the attack from Manthra. 1 9 Chain Lightning hits Cockatrice for 933 elec damage. 1 8 Chain Lightning hits Mutant Peacock for 827 elec damage. 1 7 Manthra gains the effect Deep Burns. 1 6 Chain Lightning hits Manthra for 543 elec damage. 1 5 Mind Raper gains the effect Deep Burns. 1 4 Chain Lightning hits Mind Raper for 521 elec damage. 1 3 Blue Hedgehog gains the effect Deep Burns. 1 2 Chain Lightning hits Blue Hedgehog for 1512 elec damage. 1 1 You cast Chain Lightning.
I sure as hell don't have wind spells and storm gem was on me at the time

Did you even bother to read the 4.8 release notes?

nope, I just leave this page up and refresh it as needed =D
Okay now read. I do have a question as to what this Chaos Token is used for. I didn't see any notes on it and don't see where it goes

another type of weapon i'd like to see besides magic wands would be something like a Whip, a 1H weapon with no parry and the chance to hit multiple enemies with a single strike like the Offhand Strike of 2H weapons
also, the other side of the coin, a 2H weapon with no Offhand Strike, a parry chance and the ability to trigger Overwhelming Strikes, this could be a Three-Sectioned Staff

Chances of new weapons/equipment being added? 0% Chances of new weapons being used if they were added? -100% Half the equipment choices in the game are utter shit, worthless kibble to clutter your inventory. There's a reason there's only a handful of established character builds. If Tenboro adds any new equipment, it'll likely be Accessories so we can have more useless kibble to waste our paltry pittance of credits on.

precisely why it would be great to see new, useful weapons, to add VARIETY

Or the existing useless types could be improved. I have some ideas as to how that could be accomplished...

New does not mean useful.

Since the Elemental gems were recently improved, why not improve Soul gems too? Say, let them charge the overcharge bar over the limit like soul stones do(though the effect would be significantly smaller - like maybe 2% per turn). That should help Melee out a bit.

but why would you add more useless weapons? we're talking about adding new stuff (or improving the currently useless stuff as Boggy suggests) to create new character builds and spell/equipment combinations

Can items be changed to be clearable once per day, resetting every dawn, as opposed to every 24 hours, so that they can be cleared at any time of day than having to clear them the same time every day.

They reset every 20 hours.

A Dawn reset would still be more convenient. And I don't see how that could be abused.

yet another thing i'd love to see added is a couple more equipment suffixes for the Hybrid category: "of the Hawkeye" (adds Magic and Attack Accuracy, increases both Dex and Wis) "of the Warrior-Monk" (adds Magic and Attack Damage Multiplier, increases both Str and Int) 'course these are names i came up with so you can do much better than that (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
