well it sounded more logical than just asking for the option to transfer proficiencies for free without any waiting time or cooling off time
but if you have a better suggestion, go ahead and say it

QUOTE(Battle_Hunter @ Oct 11 2010, 00:18) how about adding special trainings (like the "Scavenger" and "Luck of the Draw" type) or a special type of montage to transfer armor/weapon/magic proficiencies?
as in, transfering all the proficiency points from heavy armor to cloth, or from 1H to 2H weapons
What you suggesting would make to be easy capping half of proficiencies, plus the other half being half of current level. The rate of increase isn't constant to begin with (to make difficult to cap, and waste our time), so that won't happen.

well you're the experts i'm just a noob, so i'm just giving a general idea perhaps only being able to drain half the points from one proficiency to the other

The only proficiency that is hard to gain is staff. Cloth is also relatively difficult if you are a mage simply because you don't get hit that often

which is not the point at all, in my particular case i'm thinking of switching from a Estoc to a Rapier, but i probably won't simply because i'd hate to waste the proficiency i already have with 2H weapons it'd be nice to just pay some credits, wait 24 hours, come back and see those points have gone from 2H to 1H, obviosuly leaving 2H empty in the process

If you possess a non-shitty PC/IPS service: All battle proficiencies are easy to cap Magic proficiencies except elemental/divine/forbidden are hard to cap. not cool dude, not cool still, if i may say this with all due respect, fuck what you guys think, you're already on level 200+ so no changes will affect you whatsoever, and you even claim to be "retired" cmdct, so what's it to you anyways? those points shouldn't go to waste, at least not entirely, and spending credits (specially large amounts) will keep you playing a LOT longer to get them back, than just to level up, which you can do with a number of methods

You don't waste proficiency (2H), you just need to earn another proficiency (1HS/2W), which is fast and you probably need 2H proficiency later (for niten per example), so don't change fighting style just because of that is stupid. Rather ask for Tenboro eliminate all battle proficiencies, and create a unique proficiency for all fighting styles, and gear. Btw change to a unique proficiency for all types of magic. Proficiencies never go to waste (well, my 1 one-handed, shield, and heavy probably have). You might not care about 2H proficiency since you are shifting to DW, but you might want to use Niten in the future which uses 2H proficiency.
And the real point is that you can bring proficiencies from nothing to your level fairly quickly if you completely shift fighting styles.
Also, you are nowhere near high enough level for a shift in fighting styles to take that long for you to catch up, nor do equipment proficiencies play that much of a role at that low of level.

see, i can't argue with that, sounds very logical, thanks QUOTE(cmdct @ Oct 10 2010, 21:44) Tenboro eliminate all battle proficiencies, and create a unique proficiency for all fighting styles, and gear. Btw change to a unique proficiency for all types of magic.

I have 2 more ideas.
First one is kinda vague.. I'm suggesting some kind of combo/chain bonus. From which melee should benefit most. (not limited to melee, but melee should profit more from it since A: it makes more sense B: to give melee a chance to clear the high end arenas) But the problem in that is what action do you give a chain or combo bonus... Something like hits (eg. chain/combo builds up until a MISS, which breaks the whole chain) would favour equipment with accuracy bonus way too much.
Second one is equipment related. I thought it would be nice to be able to rename equipment. But that's not such a good idea. So I came up with something similiar but not as chaotic. Equipment Titles for achievements. I'm thinking along the lines of Way of the Samurai 1/2. Basically there are titles you can assign to your equipment. Eg. titles for Kills & Experience (or maybe even Legendary kills). That would require for HV to track the numbers.. but the idea is.. once you've reached a certain number of kills you go to the Shrine and assign a Title to your equipment. Each type of weapon would have several titles available to unlock and go like this: 10,000 kills changes "Average x katana of Slaughter" to "Average x Kotetsu of Slaughter" 20,000 kills unlocks the title "Average x Jumangoku of Slaughter" ... 1,000,000 kills changes it to "Average x Murasame of Slaughter"
And a Longsword would be able to unlock something like "Superior x Excalibur of Slaughter" at 1,000,000 kills (or more). Aside from the name change there could also be improvements to the weapon.. like adding some bonus. Not necessarily a stat increase. Maybe some sort of weapon aura. Like first title increases damage done by 1%. And the hard to get titles something like 10%.
The idea is very versatile. You could make several categories for each type of weapon (like KILLS titles, EXP titles and Legendary kills titles) or one category with varying requirements.. (eg. first title requires 10,000 kills, 1 million EXP, 20 legendary kills)

How about this spell:
Reflect Damage done by next magical attack is dealt with on the monster that casted it.
Acts like the Absorb spell in that it only lasts for 1 attack. You don't take damage and it also only reflects a certain % of damage it would have inflicted on yourself. Like 1 AB in the ability reflects 10% to a max of 50% of the damage you would have taken with 5 AB added. Cost and duration should be similar to absorb.
I think this would be a neat alternative to Absorb and help with God fights.

If by help with the God fights you mean make them absurdly easy, then yes, it would help with them.

It already exits something similar: Spikes. And given there isn't any for soul/holy/dark, I not sure Tenb will make one that works for all classes of spells, and reflecting all the damage at the same time. Except for RL, not really, they resistant to their attacks.

True but it would be a bit of a nice alternative to Absorb since that is more or less protection from 1 spell with MP only giving back basically the cost of the initial absorb spell.
Also the damaged reflected would be as if it would have hit you.
Example:
FSM uses magical attack that would do 10000 damage to you. You reflect it with a reflect that has 3AB in it so FSM takes 30% of the damage of the spell damage it would have done to you. In this case FSM takes 3000 damage and your reflect wears off.

Thorns Aura has been suggested before, and pretty much ignored.

The problem is that is more like this: The FSM uses its spirit attack which does 70,000 damage to you.

That's completely different, and even more OP. Not only Gods would be extremely easier, (are you aware at least the damage FSM spirit attack can do, and more if it's a crit?) but arenas as well (whatever difficulty is) Edit: Crap a slow ninga'd thing.
