Kill Count +1 every time someone dies while your monster is in this battle.

That's battles won.

If you say humanoids are so lolweak then why has my Lisi the most kills out of all my monsters?
Because you don't have a Giant, Dragonkin or Mechanoid (at least not one above level 120).

Besides, I wasn't even whining this time. I was just pointing out that it's going to be near impossible to have a fair system that rewards each monster type equally. I'm not even saying Humanoids are the worst, and it's Celestial and Sprites who will really suffer if there are any sort of kill based rewards.

That's easy.
Make separate rewards for each monster type. Giants get their own rewards and rankings, Sprites get their own, etc. That way, you don't have to compare Giants vs Sprites or whatever.

I see you guys are trying to compare apples to oranges.

Support monsters? Fuck yeah, summons.

I imagine humanoids are gonna get some nasty Token upgrades to make up for their lackluster stat performance. At least I hope so, I wanna get Tsuruya up there with the other Legendaries. Nyoro~n.

I doubt he'll let you summon monsters. The support monsters are probably monsters that support other monsters. i.e. monsters that can buff itself as well as other monsters and make them faster/stronger/harder to kill/etc.

Or it could be both: a one-turn skill from one of your Lab monsters or a buff ability on enemy monsters.

I'm not high enough level, obviously, but I was under the impression that Yggdrasil from the Trio battle couldn't do anything but heal. Am I mistaken? Because if not I guess that it's the first support type monster, strictly speaking.

She can still attack, and she hits just as hard as the others, and on higher difficulties that's really hard. Her magic skill is what heals. So she is support in a sense definitely, but it is not her sole purpose. You can't just silence her and focus on the others because then she will crit the fuck out of you and kill you. Did that explain?

The obvious answer. I don't know what people's obsession is with wanting summons, but it just doesn't suit this kind of game. The Trio and Tree monsters already do this, so he is most likely just expanding on this and adding a new class or classes of support monsters in the monster lab (i.e. they cast a buff on other monsters when killed, or their spirit attack is supportive of other monsters instead of an attack, etc.)

Yggdrasil has no Skill. The Spirit "attack" is what heals.

When I say summon (I have no idea what other people are expecting), I'm not expecting a lot. I'm just expecting a command that does a one-turn action like everything else. It just happens to be the result of a monster. The way I see it, its purely a cosmetic wrapper than an "OHMYGOD FF-STYLE SUMMONS!!!11one!" -- it'd be Summon>Select Monster, then the battle log reads Monster does BlahBlahBlah, Stuff Happens, whatever other actions for the turn happen, and then you move on to the next turn. The current Spirit Attack is labeled as a "Familiar" in the Settings screen, but its hardly that. How is changing that over to use a Monster Lab creation any different?

Whatever the case, they're still extensions of existing functions in my opinion.

Potential issue with cmal's idea : Result may look funny if you are actually fighting one of your own monsters, and you select that one for the lulz.

Or you could just disable the ones that are already in battle, but then it'd be a much more important issue if they're the only ones you own.

I've always wondered why one's own monsters weren't friendly towards their owner to start with. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

You could just have a message "[Monster Name] has switched to your side" and have it die in the monster list.

Alternatively you could have it become Confused, but that wouldn't be much of an attack so the first option seems better.

You could stop suggesting uses for the monsters you've created because all your options suck.

Hmm, I went and checked this and is seems Healing Roots was changed to Skill at some point. I don't think I've even paid attention to it since Trio was created, but you're right. It makes no difference since Yggdrasil dies so easily.

Hah! I was right! But yeah, makes no difference, silence will stop both and you kill her so fast it doesn't matter anyway.

Hi here some additional ideas that popped up my mind (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

- Refine weapon
have an Smitty that allows you to imbue special items (rare like artifacts)
To either add or improve attributes of an existing item.
The Smitty will ask you a fee depending on the weapon level and quality

- Smithy's discount
Additional to the Refine weapon.
Have a skill that gives you a discount to refine your weapons at the Smitty

- Weapon artifact skill
addition to the Refine weapon.
Either use the current artifact skill or add an new one to higher the chance to find items to upgrade your weapon

- Melee skills
Introduce some special attacks you can cast just like magic spells.
These are only melee based instead of magic based.
Either use the spirit mana or a new bar like endurance to allow you to execute your skill

- Skill tree's
Make it possible to specialize your character with special ability's
These abilities unlock additional or special stats to fine tune your character
Some options are like
melee tree
* Weapon master allow you to utilize a higher level weapon then your skill making you more effective with weapons
* High condition, give you more endurance and regen to execute your skills
* High dexterity, gives you more critical and evade
* rage, allow you to do more damage when X% health threshold is reached
Of Course these can have sub trees you need to unlock to unlock the other ones bellow it so that you are forced to specialize

- Clear Skill Token
Addition to the skill tree's to lower the ability to just pay for a reset so that you can change your character have tokens introduced
just like chaos and health tokens to undo a skill point for each token invested. make them tradeable

- Have avatars for the enemy's
makes it more lively then just a b c d and gives you some visuals to detect what kind of enemy it is, especially useful on player monsters

- animated avatars
Make more then just 1 picture so that you can see the status of the enemy, just like the Doom space marine avatar for example (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

- Introduce quests
Have a Inn you can enter and have some simple mud based rpg talk that allows you to get some daily quests.
The quests maybe gives you some award just like the arena and are limited to execute on a day bases.

- Introduce Epic quests
Same as quests only with an Epic arc, maybe have a endurance penalty if you fail and give a interesting award if you win

- Gamble corner
add in the Inn a gamble booth that allow you to buy a item for a fixed price that is unknown. If you bought it you will see what it is
can be some Exquisite item or a crude item for example.

----------------------------------------------
ideas mentioned in the past skip if you already know them

- have a link to the wiki page in the HV game
i am sure that beginning players are not aware of the wiki page, maybe you can mark it as help

- have your monster joining your battles with you
have a random encounter that let you join one of your monsters in the battle, you can have it pop up in the screen where the enemy's are but only give it a slight color and it will attack other enemies instead of you.

- if familiar is added a trainable option at the trainer of occurrence chance
this skill highers the likely hood a familiar joins the battle

- introduce a ring slot
add the ring slot to add more diversity into your gear.
the ring should have a single stat or a attribute
a great option should be that X% of melee damage is converted to elemental damage for example
or X points mana leach for each kill, X% added chance of weapon hit proc

- have the gem slot visible in the GUI
i hardly notice when i receive a gem from battle i now often check the item tab to see if i gained one
having it shown in the GUI will be great, it will notify me when i have one and i can easily use it

- have armory organized just like in the shop
when you have a lot of items the big list can make your head spin, it would be great if some tabs where introduced just like in the shop. This makes it much more user friendly when equipping gear

- comparison between equipped gear and selected gear
it would be great if not only the stats of the selected item is shown but also the item you have equipped, since there are a lot of stats comparing the item's pros and con's is hard without having them both on the screen

- PVP arena
this one hard to implement i think but can connect other hv people a bit more with each other, maybe make some ladder so that people can show off their skills
