Could we get a different color text for Power Up Gems? I never know when I drop one because it's the same color as damage or Spirit Shield reduction.

Above a certain level/proficiency, renaming abilities/skills/spells at will.
Is it useful? No.
Is it useful to rename personas and iw10 equipment? No.

I think 1H mage needs to be a style... I'm having a lot of fun with it.

My suggestion is to add a new piece of equipment 'Wands'.
I know this has been suggested before, but previously it was only a way to make mage even stronger. (this is not that)

Wands should not be as strong as staves; at around 50% or under power.


This also brings up a DW 'crit mage' style that could happen when Dual Wielding wands.
Maybe the 'DW Crit' ability could apply to magic spells, as well?

Obviously, the equipment stats of full forge 2x wands would be more powerful than staves, but the existing Staff abilities would/should still keep staves above it.
The point isn't to make mage stronger, just to open up more options with unique play-styles.


If this is something people would like to see, I am more than willing to prod Skillchip into doing math to determine the range wands should be.

No, what's is this? Some harry potter movie?
One of the appeals of 1H Mage was that we could role play as our favorite characters.

Personally, just give us our own dedicated ability tree is enough for us.
Adding more equipment variations will only mean more balancing to deal with.

Wand could be a 1h weapon with EDB (~15) + prof (~6) and no parry or mdb.
This would make 1h mage rely less on imperil (which we know it's gonna be nerfed sooner or later) and make it a mix between the current, a bit underpower one, and a full fledged mage.

DW could work with wand mainhand wand + waki of battlecaster offhand to make it less a crit mage and more of a real dw build.

I understand people want to see a mage nerf, but I think that's the wrong way to look at it.
Think about the endgame which currently is PFUDOR GF. A nerf to mages means no form of maging can do it and only 1H is viable for it.

This is currently the viable fighting styles I see;
Elemental mage = unsafe but can complete PFUDOR GF in a reasonable time. Kinda shit for SG arenas.
Holy/Dark mage = very unsafe and can sometimes complete PFUDOR GF in a quicker time. Great for SG arenas.
1H/Power = GG and can complete PFUDOR GF in a reasonable time
1H/Mage = GG and can complete PFUDOR GF in a much slower time
DW = Great for SG arenas. (Like 3-4 hits per SG)

Also;
2H (PA) = Needs a buff and after would fall into a Holy/Dark style of play
Bleed and Drain weapons = Need a major buff

So, I hope what you meant to say was 'Buff 2H melee' ?

That wouldn't work because it would be overpowered. 1H mage/melee combo could dip into both ability trees.

Could easily make it into its own styles

Re-balance mage in general, change MDB/PROF/EDB and Imperil so Imperil is less needed. Implement an over-cast system, same as overcharge but with magic.

Each type of maging can have its own ability line just like 1H/2H/DW. Also they can have their own procs.

2H (Current Staff)
Empowered Blast - Increased damage and possibly targets of next spell

DW (Two Wands)
Doublecast - Proc where offhand casts same spell at reduced damage and no cost

1H (Wand/Shield)
Power Overwhelming - Same as Overwhelming Strikes but for magic.
Counter-spell - Casts T1 spell against offending offender with no cost.

Gandalf (Staff/Wand) Combines 2H/DW with reduced effectiveness making it about as bad as Niten is compared to 2H and DW

Wands should have lower MDB, lower EDB, higher prof, higher counter-resist. Similar to the differences between 2H and 1H weapons. Possibly being Wakizashi tier in terms of stat allocations.

Just change the "hollowforged" potency for staves, giving them a void strike that adds a void spell that inflicts 50% of the spell damage cast, but only on the monster targetted.

And allow the "of the battlecaster" 1h/2h weapons to get staves potencies too: archmage would add a little mdb, spellweaver, annihilator and penetrator same as staves, and economizer would not be allowed since "of the battlecaster" adds "mana conservation" to weapons likely to "of focus" on staves, so since economizer is not allowed on focus staves, it shouldn't be allowed on battlecaster weapons either.
And poof, we buffed 1h mage too a bit.
