I understand people want to see a mage nerf, but I think that's the wrong way to look at it.
Think about the endgame which currently is PFUDOR GF. A nerf to mages means no form of maging can do it and only 1H is viable for it.
This is currently the viable fighting styles I see;
Elemental mage = unsafe but can complete PFUDOR GF in a reasonable time. Kinda shit for SG arenas.
Holy/Dark mage = very unsafe and can sometimes complete PFUDOR GF in a quicker time. Great for SG arenas.
1H/Power = GG and can complete PFUDOR GF in a reasonable time
1H/Mage = GG and can complete PFUDOR GF in a much slower time
DW = Great for SG arenas. (Like 3-4 hits per SG)
Also;
2H (PA) = Needs a buff and after would fall into a Holy/Dark style of play
Bleed and Drain weapons = Need a major buff
So, I hope what you meant to say was 'Buff 2H melee' ?

One of the appeals of 1H Mage was that we could role play as our favorite characters.
Personally, just give us our own dedicated ability tree is enough for us.
Adding more equipment variations will only mean more balancing to deal with.

That wouldn't work because it would be overpowered. 1H mage/melee combo could dip into both ability trees.
I would suggest that you can not mix wands and weapons. (Shield is not a weapon in this case)
