QUOTE(holy_demon @ Dec 11 2015, 17:11) and make it easier for bots? I mean, the game is designed around anti-botting. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif) It wouldn't add anything bots can't already do. So it would just be saving bandwidth for both sides (and as I said, some people play HV with limited data plans).

I dont know whether this topic was bought up before (if so) my apology Well here goes. Is there anything out there which can help lots and lots of people (including me) who suffer from bad (ping/latency) ? Not everybody live near the source server so was wondering isn't there anything which can be done to help those users. Most of the time it really destroy the desire and willingness to play HV when it takes forever to even complete 1 round. Believe me its no fun when your ping is above 300ms + (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif) Well, HV's terrible ui/ux are designed for anti-botting AND userscripts are allowed to enhance them. It's so ironic. Most of the time it really destroy the desire and willingness to play HV when it takes forever to even complete 1 round. Believe me its no fun when your ping is above 300ms + (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I can think of 3 things: (*) Mage instead of melee (more focusing, turns/sec is lower regardless since you have to Imperil (probably) and can't just hover many turns in a row until all all monsters are dead) (*) If you can find a VPS that you have good ping to, then if the VPS also has good ping to HV.org, you can route your traffic through that instead. Those who already run H@H usually have at least one that'll work, if the problem isn't too close to you personally (in which case VPS won't decrease your ping) (*) Even if you do have high ping, if you can find a non-headless VPS with good ping to HV.org that you might also use for H@H, you can hover-attack at the speed of the VPS's ping, rather than the speed of your bad connection's ping. But this only really works for melee who barely care about what happens after a turn goes through. For fragile and Imperil-using mages, you usually want to know exactly what the screen is before hoverplay/spellspam hover-sends another attack, so you'll be delayed by the ping between your location and the VPS (or HV) regardless; an extra node in between won't do any good.

Maybe use a VPN that would provide a dedicated connection to the Netherlands?

It's so irony. While trying to debug a few scripts for this forum and galleries on help channels, I was told multiple times "If the site doesn't provide the functionality on its own, you shouldn't be messing with JS on that site, and if you absolutely need a userscript to solve UI problems, it's almost certainly a site that should be strictly avoided."The issue appears to be that there is only one person who works on stuff here - and it's not just on one thing, but on everything (forums, galleries, HV, H@H, ...). Paid professional developers are completely out of the question, obviously, but I don't think there's a shortage of people here with technical expertise who'd be willing to help out here and there. I'm only worried about the galleries and the forum, but there are many tweaks and fixes that would make a whole lot of things related to browsing/cleanup/etc a lot easier. IMO, one person lacking manpower/time probably doesn't have to be the limiting factor for everything E-H related.

Mages is too expensive (atleast for me). Beside till now I have never played HV as a mage. VPN ? (sure its nice and all) but can't do that since already paying good amount for the internet service QUOTE(gc00018 @ Dec 12 2015, 01:09) Donate a hell lots to Tenb, so he can set up another server near you house (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Yeah yeah very funny (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) you don't know the pain of high ping my fellow (Extremely Rich,Catgirl with good ping) friend (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif) Oh well guess I just have to live with the high ping and hope for a miracle in the distant future (which is highly doubtful) (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

(sure its nice and all) but can't do that since already paying good amount for the internet service Yeah yeah very funny (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) you don't know the pain of high ping my fellow (Extremely Rich,Catgirl with good ping) friend (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif) At your level, it wouldn't take much funds at all to mage - if you know how to shop around and use auctions, probably no more than 100k per L-grade armor (phase), and 150k-300k for staff (get one with proficiency suffix, they're cheap). You wouldn't be able to PFUDOR, but you could still convert stamina to credits extremely fast on ~Hell. It would pay for itself in less than a week. The real limiting factor is soul fragments, which you shouldn't need a whole lot of, given your level.

Suggestion: Mark equipment sold in the bazaar as untradable. Currently, equipment in the bazaar is listed as tradable (for the most part), but it actually becomes untradable as soon as it is bought. Marking equipment sold in the bazaar as untradable right away will prevent some confusion for people unaware of that. One could even say the bazaar is dishonest in that regard.

That would defeat the entire point of soulbounding.

QUOTE(karyl123 @ Dec 20 2015, 13:14) correction
VPS ping to HV + home computer ping to VPS No, home computer ping to VPS isn't necessarily a bottleneck, if the player is melee, since the VPS is continuously registering mouse hover or key pressed down from home; it's only the ping between the VPS and HV that really matters, since monsters die very predictably as melee - unlike mage. I'm not 100% sure it'd work, but it seems pretty likely to bypass most of the trouble if the problem is with your home connection and ISP.
