If its stats bounded to a level at the first time equipped. Does it mean you need to change you gears when you level up? And how about forging?

Are we changing the way items scale with level? So rather than continuously scaling, it locks to the level when you equip it, so you have to be that level or above to wear it?

I think you have to invest a huge amount in most mage elements for it to be better than 1H Power Slaughter. At least with everyone going 1H, mage gear is getting cheaper.

With level 400+ and a bit of forging, it's easy to clear IWBTH IW and PFUDOR arena faster than 1H.

That's kind of the impression I get. If you have Peerless or LMax gear, then how are you supposed to outgrow it if it continues to scale with level? If stats become fixed to your level when the patch goes live, you will eventually get to the point where you're finding non-LMax gear that has better effective stats than your old Peerless, and hence be compelled to find something new.

Couldn't the current level scaling formula still be used to determine an equipment's effective stats the instance that it drops or is first equipped?


Assuming that stats no longer scale as you level, it seems that the only person who will get to care about max stat rolls and max forging will be dani. For everyone else the focus will shift to "this shit doesn't have max rolls but the stats are still higher than my current gear, so I'll use it until I find something better".

I'm also pessimistic about just how easy it will be to upgrade an equipment set. You have to land the right type, tier, prefix, and suffix; and, hope that the stats are better. Then deal with potencies. For all six slots. And I'm not sure where forging fits into things. I suppose the Shrine may play a role with regards to getting equipment of the correct type, but it still doesn't seem fun when I think about everything else.

As a different suggestion (and if this hasn't been touched upon already), expanding the Forge Upgrade system so that there's a branch of upgrades that can increase the proc chances of equipment, particularly weapons (Bleeding Wound, Stunned, Domino Strike, etc.)

I'm pessimistic about these new game mechanics, too.

Looks like they'll just make it easier and faster for stuff to become useless so that you'll be forced to switch it more often, rather than making stuff more useful so that you'll feel more inclined to change it.

And your currently useful (or barely useful) gear will automatically be "upgraded" to the new useless version, too.

Forcing people to change something isn't the same as giving them better options, it's quite the opposite.

It looks like HV is starting to get the same issues that Diablo 3 had: the Auction House is so efficient that the only way to balance drops is to lower the chance such that no one gets things they can use.

Hopefully there can be some compromise between a few random people hitting jackpots, and every one getting legendaries dropping like flies.

I just hope my impression is wrong and level scaling remains. I'm happy with my current equipment and don't want to be forced to replace it just because I've leveled up too much. Of course I could always keep using the same equipment, but the game would become more difficult bit by bit because monsters will probably continue to scale. I don't really care about the level restrictions though, but it will probably make trading difficult which might not be good for the community.

There are just too many variables that have to line up for a high-turnover equipment system. I can count the number of X Tempestuous Redwood Staffs of Destruction/Freyr that I've found myself in the last 6 months on one hand. And I shouldn't have to mention that the X doesn't stand for Magnificent nor Legendary, and certainly not Peerless. And then potencies: Remember how fun it was to land your desired 5/4 potency combination on your ethereal rapier and then topping it off with Holy or Dark Strike? Who really wants to go through that hell more than once? Forging is a little more palatable because the return on Salvaging is pretty generous. Depending on how quick the equipment turnover is, it might not be worth going more than ~30 upgrades on each piece, but then you still have to pay for the catalysts, which is a lot for some people; these people will also be impacted doubly because the price of materials will go up.

See above. There's some other stuff you'll have to redo after the patch as well (like primary stat assignments), so most likely everything will be unequipped.

If I read 10B message correctly, I think the equipment drop by high level players is still usable by low level players before anyone equip it. It will force players to switch equipment like the old version though. IW will become completely useless for all of the lv400- players if the length of IW do not greatly shorten. Perhaps IW mechanism will be changed as well.

BTW, how rare is the soul stone? as rare as artifact?
