An improved stat display would be nice, specifically in regards to spell damage modifiers. Currently I have to use a spreadsheet to guesstimate the potential upgrade benefits of new gear.
A streamlined spell damage modifier system that allows instant, direct comparisons between gear would be even better. Though that'd probably require a significant amount of reworking.

Well, the next patch will drop *one* factor from the spell damage equation, and it will also make comparing equipment somewhat easier, but you'll probably have to balance proficiency and direct elemental damage bonuses for quite a few more patches. Because like you said, it's a significant amount of reworking.

Oh no D: You're dropping Ratings aren't you? Can we have an indicator that shows our total exp bonus please? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Yes. Or rather, it's being changed to Elemental Resistance instead of Rating. I don't like stuff that doesn't make sense, and that hasn't for some time.

Will the resistances be buffed somehow to compensate? 1 AP per 1% reduction per one element is a bit steep.

It won't happen, because then you could have 100% resistance at one element. If you need AP at other place, reset the tree, and forget the resistances. QUOTE(Tenboro @ May 12 2011, 15:17) Yes. Can the auras give crushing/piercing/slashing resistance as well? This post has been edited by cmdct: May 12 2011, 17:22

Well, Element Rating was originally bugged. Back when it was fixed, it was made into Elemental Resistance for monsters, while players got half the Elemental Rating applied as Resistance. After the next patch, that halving will no longer be applied. QUOTE(cmdct @ May 12 2011, 17:22) Can the auras give crushing/piercing/slashing resistance as well?
Naw, but if you want that, you should look into post-patch heavy armor.

Does that mean elemental rating is no longer a variable in the spell damage equation?

So 1 AP = 2% resist per element? That means a maxed out player would have from AP...
Fire, Cold, Elec, Wind @ 30% Dark, Holy, Soul @ 20%
Seems fair enough.

This... will go on forever.
Crazy thought: How about we'll just look into it when it's done?

Also be interested to know how this effects Elemental Damage Bonus equipment.

If I understand correctly, we going to have the same elemental resistance as our current elemental rating. If this is true I could have 98.9% dark resistance with my current gear, but they're all under-leveled. You're gonna fix that as well? Probably they'll become more valuable.

There are plenty of chances, so you probably shouldn't assume anything from today's numbers.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't this is what he intended to do? I wasn't sure if Elemental Ratings and Elemental Damage Bonuses were considered in the same category.

QUOTE(Sayo Aisaka @ Feb 26 2011, 22:50) SPELL DAMAGE Expected damage increase: If EDB adds to rating bonus: (125+34.3+50)/(125+34.3) = +31.4% If they are separate multipliers: (125+50)/125 = +40%
Actual increase: 29% to 32.7%. This confirms that they add together.

Ok that tranquilizes me, I just calculated with sonic's cal, and with my dark mitigation gear leveled at level 300, I would have 100.85% dark mitigation. Sure I'm using 2 pre-nerfed pieces, but even so I'm not the only one possessing such gear. This post has been edited by cmdct: May 12 2011, 18:16

You might need another set of drums. He hasn't responded to my questions/suggestions in a while.

Well all I can say is that it looks like a huge mage nerf at this rate o_O Time to grind levels before it's much harder to xD
