I wouldn't describe holding down a key until you've worn down an In Memory Of's health as "braindead". It's how the system is designed, anyway.

Since the subject of Spark of Life was brought up, can we has a popup/pause when it triggers, like certain scripts have? The way it is now, its usefulness is quite limited for quick-paced battles.

You are complaining about having to slow down when SoL triggers... but I want to remind you that nothing is slower than a dead man. Praise SoL.

When did I do that? I'm saying that if the fight moves faster than 1 round/sec, there's no time to react when SoL triggers, and the next attack kills you.

Then why not use scripts, like you mentionned?

Because they cut my rounds/second to half, if not 1/3, of what it can be.

That's not how you use slowpoke, by the way.

Basic scripts don't have that much impact unless your computer is slow. Change the default font.

That much? I think I finally understand your request. However, I don't think it has any chance of being accepted. However, maybe there is still something that can be done with scripts. What script did you use for the SoL popup/pause? Maybe there are more functions to it that are useless to you and only slow you down? Or is the slowdown happening when you are using any script at all, even simple ones, or even when just having the script extension enabled? What browser/extensions are you using?

(I'll be back in a few hours, btw.)

Edit: Oh, EsotericSatire suggests to change the default font, which is a very good idea if you didn't do it yet. Go in Settings and set a custom font. I use Cambria/9/bold/normal/-4.

My computer isn't slow, and I've tried changing the font, but even the simplest scripts (anything from Mousemelee to the one that skips the "next round" message) cause a significant slowdown. I'm not the only one who has this problem, either. This isn't the thread for that discussion, though, and I don't see why something so insignificant, inobtrusive and situationally helpful would cause two pages of backlash.

P.S. I use Firefox and Chrome, and only addon-less Chrome has good speed (3-4 rounds/sec).

I use a very old version of Chrome (v11) because it has the best speed I could find while using (light) scripts. It's one of the earliest, lightweight versions that allows user-scripting (maybe the first, not sure), so it's something you could try. Mind you I only use Chrome for HV.

Try "HVSTAT slim mod." Edit the script. At the top, change everything you want to turn off from 'true' to 'false' (I only use alert key, spark alert, and the gem notifier.) Scroll down until you find the block of code for spark alert. Look for the 'adjustKey('biribiri!')' line. You can change this to 'adjustKey('whatever')' and duplicate this line for how ever many popups you need to stop you from dying when Spark triggers. Congrats, you now no longer die from playing too quickly when Spark triggers.

Now, could someone make a script that stops me from getting nuked when I forget to watch my MP and IA expires? Then I can go back to braindead playing while watching TV and never die. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I use Iron. The current Chrome kills all scripts in extension and I hate it.

Try Spellspam (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) . I even set it up so it uses all gems right away, now I only need to keep Regen and MP.

I tried some versions of Iron. Faster than FF and current versions of Chrome. Unscripted they were probably the fastest, but with scripts they were a little slower (still faster than FF and current Chrome.) So I stick with what's fastest for me.

I don't think it works with old chrome versions. No matter since I already have some non-java hotkeys set up for everything. I don't really like the sound of the features other than hotkeys. They would lead to too much wasted MP and accidental sparking if I used it.

Using all gems immediately is inefficient since MP/SP will overflow and channeling will be used when unneeded.

Actually, HV Slim Mod also has an HP alert that I can probably modify into a MP alert...

I had a script that did an annoying sound when mana was low for my multislacking

That's good too, but this was easy.

Under HP Alert change ('cwb2')[0] to ('cwb2')[1], change all instances of HP to MP, fiddle with the set percentages, presto change-o, I now have an MP alert just shy of losing IA while still having next to no understanding of java. And no additional code (slowdown) added since it was already there but inactive. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

Spell spam supports HP and MP levels, so when I am using it for melee or mage it stops when I am at 20% Hp or 10% MP.

I use firefox.

Track Drops users can save a few CPU cycles by adding biribiri functionality, rather than installing a separate single-purpose script, [pastie.org] à la 2.2.1*.

*I used this less-intrusive method (battle log highlight that's dismissed on mouseover vs. alert box) for close to a year without issue in my old version of Chrome.

Don't think it was ever posted in the script thread because of an occasional overrun issue in Firefox that I didn't want to look into/override native functionality for.
And because it's an off-label use of a script meant to track drops.

Iron v21 is the fastest for me. At least 2.8+ turn/sec on my weak windows laptop.
Everything that went after it - v25, 27, 31, 33, 35, 37 - were much slower.

And yeah, while grinding you should use as few scripts as possible.
I'm using only "HV - counter plus 3.6" and "Mousemelee 1.4.1067" while fighting.

PS And jeesus christ, why would anybody 250+ (200+?) use Spark? I understand mages and their weirdest gimmicks, but melee?
Spark is awful and should not be used. Terrible SP consumption, 1HP nerf... Meh. Just use SS instead.

PS2. If you have to use Spark while playing melee, then you are clearly doing something very wrong.
