Scan Options

My device: Epson GT-X980 (= Epson Perfection V850 Pro)
Content of service: 450/600 dpi scan & edit (editing is optional)
[Editing means leveling, brightness/contrast adjustment, color correction, denoising, descreening, etc. It does NOT include decensoring or stitching double-page spreads.]
Output resolution for editing service: B5 and A4: 300dpi for monochrome pages, 350dpi for color pages; A5: 350dpi

Price & Payment (Revised on 2024/1/7)

(Book price + Shipping fee + Flat fee * Number of items + Pagewise fee * Page count) * (1 + 4.1%) + 40 [in Japanese yen]

Details:
The shipping fee depends on the site from which you order items. It's usually 200~700 yen—no international shipping fee.

Flat fee

200 yen per item for scan only
500 yen per item for scan + edit

Pagewise fee

18 yen/page for 450 dpi scan
25 yen/page for 600 dpi scan
5 yen/page for editing service (optional)

An extra 4.1% + 40 yen will be charged to make up for PayPal’s international transaction handling fee.

I'll quote a price for you so you don't have to calculate it yourself.
Preferably, I'll receive payment with PayPal.
The price will be calculated in Japanese yen (JPY), so the amount of your payment will depend on the currency exchange rate.
My commission fee may be subject to change in the future without notice in advance.

FAQ

1. Q: How long do I need to wait to get the scan?
   A: Usually 1~3 months. If you want a specific ETA, please ask me on Discord.
2. Q: Can you deal with auctions like Yahoo Auctions?
   A: No, I can't.
3. Q: Do you always upload your scans to EH? Can I upload it myself or keep the commission private?
   A: No, I don't. Actually, I upload the commissioned scans only if my client allows me to do so. And of course, you can keep it private or whatever. It's all up to you.
4. Q: Can I have both the edited pictures and the raw scan if I choose the editing option?
   A: Yes, certainly, but make sure to let me know that you need the raws, otherwise I won't send them.
5. Q: I don't use Discord. Can I contact you in other ways?
   A: Send me a forum PM to ask for my email address.
6. Q: I don't use PayPal. Are there other methods of payment?
   A: I accept CNY via Alipay and WeChat Pay or JPY via PayPay. There will be no transaction handling fee if you use them.

I'm planning to lower the pricing in late February.
It may be better to wait until then if you are not in a hurry and want to save some money.

I cut 5 yen/page for all resolution options and adjusted the discount policy.
Editing is still 10 yen/page.
The new pricing is applied from 2022/2/20 onwards.

Service reopened

Changes:
Price calculation is changed. Added a flat fee, and lowered the pagewise fee for 600 dpi scan and editing.

For instance, if you commission 600 dpi scan + edit for a 30-page book from melonbooks that costs 770 yen,
now you'll need to pay (770 + 363 + 500 * 1 + 25 * 30) * 1.041 + 40 = 2521 yen,
which is more expensive than the result of the old pricing—2313 yen.

But for a larger book, for instance, a 100-page book that costs 2200 yen,
the total cost will be (2200 + 363 + 500 * 1 + 25 * 100) * 1.041 + 40 = 5831 yen,
so it will be less expensive than the old pricing—6352 yen.

350 dpi scan is no longer available.
The discount aimed at expunging shitty scans is no longer available.
