May be jumping the gun, but with how he was acting it's an awfully strange 'break' he is taking.

Thinking back on 4chon, i only participated in /mu/, /rs/ and maybe /vg/.

Then /a/ was full of weeaboos with shit taste who watched naruto and toonami dubs, and the /b/ section was full of attentionwhores(who didn't show tits) and summerfags(who didn't do their homework)...it was rarely fun although the mods back then were funny banning people for random reasons like being wholesome in a gore thread.

The cp dumps were also a regular occurrence but the most posts were by emos and edgelords who said shit like they were going to shoot up a school, it rarely happened but when it did shit was cash and many anhero gifs were posted and people were posting in epic breads.
