I just saw that some old era Vtuber has come back from hiatus(?).
Her name is Kizuna Ai and for some reason she changed her appearances.

Her avatar really look like young mother or a single mom with baby now.
I find it funny because during hiatus, I saw a joke that she stop her activity because she got pregnant and need to take care of her baby because the her husband cheated on her.

VTubers are like streamers these days. I think only NEETs or kids have time to spend 8 hours a day on them.
Could never find the time to sit through, but I did see some Holo clips of that funny shark girl.

What are some perspectives on the appeal? I think its not different than regular streamers, personally, but a lot of my friends swear by them. Would love to hear some perspectives.

I began to realize I was starting to become one of those fans. I stopped watching her after that. I still get notifications every time she goes live, but the thought of developing a parasocial relation with someone who isn’t even real, and the fact that it’s an unhealthy direction for me to go, stopped me from continuing. I lack moderation when it comes to these things so for my mental health, it’s probably best I don’t get caught up in this.

This is a healthy perspective to have on anything media driven! If it feels that deep, its very responsible of you to step back and reflect on your time etc. Glad you are recovering!

I forgot that I have the Peerless Amber Plate Cuirass of Protection soulfused in Persistent, so I'm not sure how many Juggernauts it can get on the first run. Probably 3 or 4?

It's fun watching them, though I guess I no longer have time and energy to watch as many clips.

I used to sometimes watch random clips I find of Hololive EN V Tubers. I like this one animation of Gura talking about Lightning McQueen. I also seen some Nuero-sama stuff. The humans interacting with her are what made the clips I saw funny.

From what I remember she was the first VTuber. I'm sure people were using facetracking software while they played videogames, but she was the first "VTuber" with kayfabe, personality, branding, etc. So seeing her back is nice in a nostalgic sense.

That being said, I find VTubers distasteful. Like, streamers who are leaning into an audience's parasocial tendencies by using a "1 step removed" trick. If you walked into somebody's room and saw Pokimane, or Ninja,or whoever on posters on their walls, you'd more likely than not find it weird. But with VTubers, they get the benefit of looking like an anime character, so that's treated differently.

And it's not like "I don't get it" I do get it. In fact,I've given them a fair shot. They're just not that entertaining. I think the whole thing is overrated.
