There are two Android games, Tokimeki Idol by Konami and Grimms Echoes by Square Enix, that I particularly enjoy. Essentially they are gacha games with one crucial difference: They are actually free. As in, you can earn an infinite amount of all of the in-game currencies in the game without spending any money or wasting exorbitant amounts of time. Both games are completely offline. They don't connect to the internet and there is no way to spend money on them. They are to my knowledge the highest budget freeware games of all time.
Tokimeki Idol is a rhythm game where you play dress up with your characters. It also has some light visual novel and RPG elements. Tokimeki Idol has girl idols, the version that instead has boys is called DanKira Boys Be Dancing. Grimms Echoes is a really big, really long fantasy RPG. It's a little bit like a mix of Kingdom Hearts and Subarashiki kono Sekai/The World Ends With You.
Both games used to have paid gacha but that feature was taken out a while ago and now everything is free. I've grown to really love both games. My favorite character in Tokimeki Idol is Nanana and my favorite character in Grimms Echoes is Scarlet. Nanana thinks she knows how to speak English but doesn't, which I thought was annoying at first but it grew on me and now I think it's hilarious and cute. Scarlet is adorable, has a great storyline, and a really tiny miniskirt. She's become one of my favorite Square/Enix characters, which says a lot.
I find it crazy that there are games this big, fun, and free, and nobody even knows they exist.
