To be a bit more constructive, I think this makes for a bit of an unfortunate market dynamic -- though whether it matters enough to be worth making changes is up to Nezu. Basically:

• If an item is listed on the front page, it's easy for both buyers and sellers to scan and see it. Prospective buyers can see what sellers will sell for, and prospective sellers can see what buyers will buy for. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
• If there are no current sellers, but the item page exists, prospective sellers can't easily scan the page and see what buyers are willing to pay. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
• If the page doesn't exist at all, there's no way for a buyer to even register their interest in purchasing the item on HVM. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

I see two potential inefficiencies here. First, if the page doesn't exist and buyers cannot give their purchase price, the seller may sell for less than they would otherwise get (good for the buyer, bad for the seller -- although it also means buyers cannot queue). Second, it means that potential sellers can't easily come across an offer for an item they weren't thinking of selling (say, they browse the page and think 'some guy is offering 10m for an Abstract Wire Sculpture, I never thought of selling mine but I will for that').

Concretely, I'd suggest two changes:

1. Make item pages always exist for items, instead of just redirecting to the front page.
2. Add a toggle to the front page to list all items instead of just ones with sellers.

Item pages do already exist for all previously submitted items; they're just not searchable at the moment.

I'll consider making them searchable but it's not really worth much time given that it only affects items that are rare enough to no longer be traded except on very rare occasions. And given how many obsoletes are already shown, I'd consider it a usability downgrade with hiding those rows by default. I'll get back to it a bit later.

I read this part in the rules first time i saw it and this time too, just to be sure:

Abusive Behaviour
Buying all of an item and relisting at a much higher than normal price (see note)

Note:

Reselling items is not against the rules. Trying to hold an artificial monopoly by buying huge amounts of stock and then selling them at much higher than normal price is.

For example: at the time of writing, Binding of Destruction sells for about 55k credits. If someone buys Binding of Destruction at 50k or below, and then resells at 55k, that's normal and not against the rules.

However, if someone decided to buy all the Binding of Destruction at normal price, and then resell at 100k per, that would be against the rules and they will be banned.

Reason: The person who tries this tactic will lose more than they gain - because they cannot control the supply, so they would have to keep buying Binding of Destruction sold by other users, even at 99k (or else undercut until the price goes back to normal). But HV has very high wealth inequality due to H@H and star sales. So someone doing this might be able to inconvenience the entire player base for weeks, months, or even forever (if they don't mind losing lots of credits to be annoying).

And then i saw something "alike*" happening in the precursor artifacts section of HVM.

(*: i wrote alike not other word there, because as i point out since the beginning that this will be a question because im nor sure yet. keep that in the clear).

This guy (no name to not point anyone) keep buying PAs since sometime ago and now he has set some kind of behavior where the asking price and the selling price is just 1 credit apart... and that player imposed both.

It would not be that evident the fact hat this really doesnt make it bad (the difference is just 1c) but here comes the catch: The selling price he set is a little higher... and so, the buying price is set based in that same selling price.

Something like this:
Buying price of PAs average: 21700c
His base buying price 21850c
His base selling price: 21851c

This is nothing really big... however, i have been buying PAs myself sometimes, and when i was rising the price a little over him (bewteen 1c or 100c each time) he quickly start rising his buying price, forcing me to increase the bid... then he just decide to keep increasing it untill it reach a 1k or more in price, then sell me his PAs at that price.
Then plummel his PAs buying price and keep buying for the original price he wanted.

Now, i have fallen for this a few times, and i know this is a tactic that would fall under "Normal" economic tactics... but if the same guy controls selling/buying prices and adapt those as high as he wants then decide do rise and drop as will, isnt that a little annoying?

That's how it works on a centralized Exchange when people have enough capital to manipulate the market in certain level, just like stocks irl.

Unless there's a large amount of PA supply that could crash the market and make these guys loss money, otherwise they can just keep bump/dump the price as long as they have enough credits/stocks to control the market.

PA price is rather stable already, since it is linked with ED in a rate of 4~5:1.

Funny, just realize script is not prohibited in HVMarket and how many ppl are actually using this to regularly outbid current BBO by 1c.

Maybe we should write a script to let ALL players automatically outbid current BBO by 1c, just like the proxy bid function in Super's auction~

Having an issue - I tried to claim the credits in my account, however I've been waiting 8+ hours and haven't received the credits. "Account" screen still shows "Claim processing (please wait)"
