QUOTE(Tenboro @ Nov 12 2021, 02:52) Hard to say. You could try to reset the file permissions on the entire directory tree from the File Explorer, then start H@H with --verify-cache (or check "Verify cache integrity on next startup" from the settings page), but YMMV as far as how many files are usable.
The entire cache of several hundred gigs, at a glance from copying to another drive, appears to be intact. I'll try both the permissions and verify cache extensions when I get home.

I wonder whether we could get a read-only mode for clients, where it will continue to serve images but not cache anything new.
Migrating a client's cache to a new server can take a few days, which right now requires downtime to ensure cache consistency. This would avoid most of that downtime.

While it would be a great feature to have alright you can mitigate the issue with two rsync calls. You rsync once to copy the cache and keep H@H running. Then shutdown H@H after the copy completes and rsync a second time to copy the changes.

QUOTE(uareader @ Dec 17 2020, 03:22) Hi, Due to some graphics glitch, the part of my taskbar including H@H look like this: [ imgur.com] https://imgur.com/qWaQFEJ.jpg(poor icon on the right has almost completely disappeared, it's more obvious with the window opened and the normal icon being displayed on the left) Would it be possible to make it in the future so it's possible to restart the GUI without completely stopping H@H as whole to fix this kind of thing when it happen? Today I connected with RDP to my computer, and saw it causing the icon to fade yet again. Initially, I thought it may be related to resolution changes, but I could not reliably reproduce it. While I still haven't tried to reproduce it again and again, I have a new suspect from this latest experience: Windows Scaling (in the windows 10 parameters that also allow to change resolution and rotate the screen). I realized my tablet was in 150%, and it somehow forced itself on the remotely connected desktop (I noticed the site wasn't displaying normally, and that's how I figured that windows setting affect the RDP). I wonder if it's a Java issue that would affect other programs with a taskbar icon (I have none), or if it's something specific to H@H.

For a few month now, I noticed the client frequently running into SSLHandshakeExceptions, but in the end everything I marked for download did get downloaded. However, since about 4 days ago I can't download anything anymore, while the basic H@H sharing works perfectly as far as I know. Does anyone have any insights into possible ways to resolve this problem? I saw something similar in the wiki page for H@H client in the bugs section, but that's not applicable here since my client worked until now and there have been no changes to my router since then. Here is an example log of the problem: QUOTE 2022-02-08T19:51:43Z [debug] GalleryDownloader: Download of gid=2130347 page=18 fileindex=89597542 xres=org filetype=png filename=0018_alexia_fert_6 FAILED (attempt=1) 2022-02-08T19:51:43Z [debug] Memory total=22508kB free=13225kB max=253440kB 2022-02-08T19:51:43Z [debug] Connecting to 94.100.24.68... 2022-02-08T19:51:44Z [debug] Reading 46 bytes from [ 94.100.24.68] http://94.100.24.68/15/rpc?clientbuild=154...9bd820262dde44f2022-02-08T19:51:44Z [debug] Finished in 0 ms, writeoff=46, success=yes 2022-02-08T19:51:44Z [debug] Received response: OK 2022-02-08T19:51:44Z [debug] And when you're dead I will be still alive. 2022-02-08T19:51:44Z [debug] Successfully performed a stillAlive test for the server. 2022-02-08T19:51:48Z [debug] Connecting to 94.100.24.68... 2022-02-08T19:51:48Z [debug] Reading 174 bytes from [ 94.100.24.68] http://94.100.24.68/15/rpc?clientbuild=154...330693e4dd881552022-02-08T19:51:48Z [debug] Finished in 0 ms, writeoff=174, success=yes 2022-02-08T19:51:48Z [debug] Received response: OK 2022-02-08T19:51:48Z [debug] [ icmxpdn.agumsmviyqsp.hath.network] https://icmxpdn.agumsmviyqsp.hath.network/h...xres=org/hathdl2022-02-08T19:51:48Z [debug] Connecting to icmxpdn.agumsmviyqsp.hath.network... 2022-02-08T19:51:49Z [WARN] javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target 2022-02-08T19:51:49Z [WARN] Retrying.. You may be using an older version of Java that doesn't have the necessary CA certs installed. Can you do a java --version and post the result? Try updating it to a newer/different version. OpenJDK 8 seems to have it, but the Sun/Oracle one might not.

Thanks for the idea! This was my java version before the update: CODE java version "1.8.0_45" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_45-b15) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.45-b02, mixed mode, sharing) And this one after: CODE openjdk version "11.0.11" 2021-04-20 OpenJDK Runtime Environment OpenLogic-OpenJDK (build 11.0.11+9-adhoc..jdk11u) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM OpenLogic-OpenJDK (build 11.0.11+9-adhoc..jdk11u, mixed mode)
That seemed to have fixed the SSLHandshakeExceptions and only gives this warning sometimes: CODE 2022-02-10T02:09:31Z [WARN] Request host did not send Content-Length, aborting transfer. (sun.net.www.protocol.https.DelegateHttpsURLConnection:https://ifdcana.qbvlgcmpqiyr.hath.network:23333/h/5ed80e38be85d29996fd81e5704f1e7bc223717b-679947-1280-721-png/keystamp=1644459300-92df474a61;fileindex=87027789;xres=org/hathdl) 2022-02-10T02:09:31Z [WARN] Note: A common reason for this is running firewalls with outgoing restrictions or programs like PeerGuardian/PeerBlock. Verify that the remote host is not blocked. 2022-02-10T02:09:31Z [WARN] java.net.SocketException: Invalid or missing Content-Length 2022-02-10T02:09:31Z [WARN] Retrying.. (2 tries left)
Though it always seems to work on the next try, so it's not really a problem anymore. Thank you for the help!

I have a suggestion that might come in handy for users running H@H:
If H@H client fails to read images from the disk (I/O exception), after reaching a specific threshold (maybe 10-20 errors), it should notify the user (through PM or something) to check their server for any disk failure.
Note: I encountered it with my Raspberry Pi 4 connecting to a HDD enclosure that didn't support UAS protocol properly so sometimes, it reset the USB controller. When this happens, the files on the drive become unreadable (while the OS still shows them) because the mount point now points to a non-existen drive (for example, before reset, it was /dev/sda0, then after reset, it is /dev/sdb0, but the mount point still points to /dev/sda0). As a result, java client threw a lot of IOError, trust and quality scores dropped significantly pretty quick.

Instead of mounting by device name, try uuid.

Well, since I fixed it a while ago, idk if this will work or not. Before that, I tried to unmount that mounted folder but linux always complained that Volume is busy and I cannot remount to the same folder so I had to reboot to make it go away.

So, I have 956GB of usable space on the partition for a hath client. It filled up and I tried setting it all the way down to 900GB and it's been weeks and still hasn't deleted anything. I can't tick the "remove static ranges if necessary". What gives?
Derp, I gotta restart.

i logged in today to notice my client 29555 was revoked. i've set up notifications for private messages but i'm not receiving emails from these forums for them for an unknown reason. i was completely unaware the client wasn't running. i run it in silent mode due to a crashing issue with running it in UI mode. i spent years trying to troubleshoot that issue, until i posted here to ask if there's any way to fix it. the suggested solution was to run it in command line mode, but i'd preferred to not have the tab in my taskbar and started using silent mode, which meant i couldn't really monitor if the client was running at all.
are revokes permanent or can i request a new ID? i don't really want to stop running the client.

Does anyone know how to set up the client so that it works with VPN split tunneling?
I use a VPN called Private Internet Access with port forwarding to obtain a public IP address and a port number, so my H@H traffic has to go through the VPN. I added java.exe and javaw.exe used by H@H to the list of applications that must use the VPN, and let everything else bypass the VPN by default. But, this does not work because the client cannot connect to the H@H server. If I change the settings so that everything goes through the VPN, then the client will function normally.
My question is: what Private Internet Access configurations should I tweak to force H@H traffic through the VPN? I thought that since it uses "javaw.exe", adding that to the list is sufficient, but I guess somehow this is not recognized by PIA.

Forum emails have been disabled for quite a while now, so checking for forum PMs is the only reliable way to get monitoring alerts. There shouldn't be any issue in requesting for it to be re-activated if you want to run it again. There shouldn't be anything aside from javaw.exe being used in the application so that should be it. Do you have the same issues split tunnelling another application which uses port forwarding?

Recently I got some conditions (VPN?Streaming?Tablet?Windows Scaling?Incompatible resolutions?) that cause H@H taskbar icon to fade out until becoming nearly invisible. At that time, I realized another icon was also affected (but it got blurred instead of faded), of a program called Sandboxie Plus, which isn't made in Java, but is open source.
I'm not mentioning this directly for Tenboro, but for anybody possibly having time to try and figure what H@H and this program could have in common or similar that lead them to draw their taskbar icon in a distorted way.
I think the only other open source program displaying an icon in the taskbar, and that doesn't seem affected by a similar issue (though there's always the possibility of it because any change is just "less visible" on it?), is Open Hardware Monitor (not in Java either).

H@H doesn't draw the taskbar icon, that is fully handled by Java. So if it looks blurry, it's probably whatever version of Java not properly handling whatever resolution/DPI scaling/whatever combination you have.

I run the h@h client in docker for a few days, all seems normal but checking the log, there is some warnning like: Timeout detected waiting for byte XXXXX, aborting.
Does this mean I have some connecting problem or something?
My trust and quality rating seem normal: 1000 and 7000-8000+.
