Found a "minor"? issue with H@H, if you use a browser to check the ip/dns of a machine running the client, it shows a 404 error but it loads the e-h favicon, this is what happens if someone is running the client on the 443 port, the recommended port, but other ports can be "tested" too
My point is outsiders can do https requests to ip:port to check if H@H is running which might be, or not, a security issue...

Same as doing a port scan really. Anything with an open port will report what service is running on it when probed. The latest version of H@H reports "Hentai@Home P2P downloader 1.6.1" to anyone probing that port.

That is the default behavior, yes. One solution I can think of would be to edit this string in the source code and recompile it, but I don't know if this may mess with the server calls to check your client's online status.

For a month, the number of visits to my H@H has become only half of what it was. Is any problem there?

Depends where your client is. If it happens to have moved regions recently as part of a recent update, it may be down to that.

IPv6 isn't planned to be supported until global uptake is almost globally ubiquitous, as the amount of people using IPv6 at the moment is still relatively low.

hi guys, one of my client experience significant trust drop daily, the trust value drop from 1000 to -100 in 10-30 minutes, after that it will climb back to 1000 slowly. It happen 1-2 times a day. would I misconfigure anything?

I encountered a problem. If I use the original code to download the proxy image directly, it will be very slow, because of the bandwidth limit in China. So I choose to download the proxy image through another proxy. In order to achieve this function, I can only manually modify the code and then compiled it myself. So my dear pineapple, would you consider adding this feature to the next version?

SSDs are ideal; write endurance is not an issue.

If the cache is full, it will prune old files to free up space for new ones, but it's not at a level where it would ever induce write endurance issues by itself. Even QLC SSDs are typically rated for 1/10th of its capacity being written every day for several years.

Hmm, H@H crashed today, not from something I did I think since there's a "hs_err_pid14180.log" file in H@H folder created at 5 AM (and I was sleeping).
I think (not paying attention enough to be sure (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) ) I have changed IP again, but this should logically have happened 2 days ago (when I reset my internet box due to stuff happening), so maybe it's unrelated...or maybe it is.
I think it rescanned the cache too, so maybe unrelated to ip :/

This means the Java VM itself crashed. Which could be caused by running out of RAM, some bug in the Java VM itself, a bug in the OS kernel or a driver, or some sort of hardware failure.

Hey all,

I just finished setting up a client with Docker, using Traefik as a reverse proxy, and everything seems to work fine.
I can't see any error in the logs, the cert looks good when I access my assigned hostname in a browser, and the stillAlive tests are all green.

However, I can't help but notice that my trust is continuously going from -100 to 0, then back to -100, and my quality is slowly dropping (currently at 620).

I read in a lot of topics that I should wait at least a week before the client actually starts building a cache, but the metrics I see are pretty weird so I just wanted to know if I fucked up somewhere or if it's intended behaviour for new clients.

EDIT: It looks like 99 is the minimum possible quality, currently sitting there...

Sounds like a very slow virtual network config. Are you sure you do not have CPU spikes from internal NATing when H@H is called?

CPU should not be an issue, it's on my home server which has a Ryzen 5 3600, currently heavily underused.

I'm not saying you have a CPU issue, I'm saying that docker has a mania of getting setup with several virtual networks. If your connection is going through many translation hops it will be freaking slow. CPU spikes are a good way to see extraneous translation happening.

Also, the logs for the stay alive tests always return "Finished in 0 ms, writeoff=42, success=yes".

The weirdest thing (to me) is that both the cachedir and downloaddir are completely empty, is this normal?

EDIT: It took me a while to understand that the downloaddir was for galleries downloaded through the website's "Archive Download" button.
At least, I'm now sure that the client is properly reachable since I can queue downloads.
Is there some way to troubleshoot the trust issue? I'm guessing there might be server-side logs, I can provide my client id if necessary.
I'm not a network expert, but when I look at my setup, it shouldn't be more complicated than H@H server -> Traefik container -> H@H client container -> Traefik container -> H@H server, so 2 translations, doesn't seem too bad.
I also tried checking with curl how long it takes to fetch the favicon through my assigned .hath.network subdomain, and I'm getting consistently ~180ms, which is similar to the time I get with other clients.

EDIT2: I concluded that Traefik might be altering the headers of the responses too much to have my client trusted, so I gave up running it on port 443 and settled on another one (not going through Traefik).
Trust is now going above 0.
But all of this is just speculation, if there are logs I'm interested to know the actual reasons my setup was broken.
