Having stats accross the countries would help understanding things better then, and take decisions better. Having that displayed as an entire region is misleading, and this case proves it. I suspected such a thing to exist to some extent, without being certain, when I see the GP+hath difference between my hosts in various countries in the EU. That being said, that's one more reason for me to shut down that host. I'll use that slot back in the EU instead. Perhaps I'll try to transfer the cache, since it's not too big. Thanks for the clarification. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I did think that Brazil made some server farms recently - did they go bust?

Just saw that topic. This raise interesting questions: - Is there a mechanism to prevent data to be transmitted by H@H after upload for a while, to avoid forbidden content to end up at user side before it's spotted?
- If not, or it fails and some content does get through, is there something to hunt and delete those files on user side?
- If yes, any idea what kind of delay before it takes effect?
Having those answers (and maybe more) could be useful for future other users like the one in the topic mentioned earlier This post has been edited by uareader: Sep 28 2020, 21:54

QUOTE(uareader @ Sep 28 2020, 20:54) to avoid forbidden content to end up at user side before it's spotted? Big question for the last 300 years: How do I get out of a problem before I figure out I have a problem?

Having those answers (and maybe more) could be useful for future other users like the one in the topic mentioned earlier There's a blacklist thing that deletes files which runs from time to time. I see it in the logs. I don't know how often and how up to date it is. This post has been edited by Jay Low: Sep 29 2020, 09:54

As Jay Low says, there is a file blacklisting mechanism that H@H uses to proactively erase blacklisted files, which runs every six hours I believe. Note that this is generally only used for photographic content of actual people that we don't want on the site.

Is it available to run with 'fail2ban'? There are several machines running port-scan everyday, and we need essential security options to protect our machines. Also, running with 'abuseipdb' is better. Is it able to fight against bots? Is it able to recognize replay attacks? I don't want my server blocked by firewall.

You need to whitelist the H@H port if you're doing IP-based filtering. Bots and replay attacks shouldn't be an issue.

Users signing up for their first client simply go to the Hentai@Home page in their My Home area. A flash interface will appear where users may fill in their qualifications. Applications typically take a few days to process.
For any additional clients please PM Tenboro. For users wishing to run more than 5 clients the average stable quality of their existing clients must be 7,000+ before more keys are assigned. I don't think there's any flash involved, but you should go on the mentioned page and do what has to be done.

Any ideas why the hits I'm getting on my server with the most static ranges has been absolutely plummeting lately? It's down below 80hits/min and it has 2035 static ranges.
Quality is 10k whenever I check, and trust either 1000 or 999.
I was often placing in top 100 but now I fell all the way back to 160.

I'm new to H@H, just got my approval. I've think I've got everything set, but when I start the client (1.6.1) It tells me, "Rejecting connection request from 64.111.122.99 during startup." I put that address in my web browser and it doesn't exist as a web page, but the who is says it belongs to dreamhost-blk4. Is there something else I should have set up? I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS desktop.

Some IP tried to connect before the server was ready. that in itself is likely not any sort of issue

OK, taking that to mean...shut down the client and re-start it I did. FAIL_CONNECT_TEST:couldn't connect to host. I'm using port 8443, I checked that the port is open. this error comes a few seconds after... Notifying the server that we have finished starting up the client...

Are you sure it is open to the internet though and not just on your LAN? Make sure the port is forwarded at your router and that your ISP actually gives you a public IP at all. You need to somehow check that the port is accessible from a machine outside of your network. (If you search you should be able to find ways to check this) Edit: Oops. I just realized if it was complaining about an IP connecting before the server was ready then it likely is accessible. Also, that error you received might be your end not being able to connect to the H@H RPC server. I dunno, check the wiki. This post has been edited by yeller: Nov 16 2020, 07:57

Yes, I KNOW that the port is open to the web. I used "What's my IP" and the numbers match, and then I used, "Is my port open" and that said yes. For some reason, my client does NOT want to talk to the host. I'm lost and don't know where to go.

If it's in the US, there were a bunch of clients that were (intentionally or due to bad geolocation) mislocated to Asia that were forced back to their proper location, and most of them were in the US, so it's a bit more crowded there now. It may or may not work with your network setup, but it sounds like you're behind a non-transparent proxy, so you can try starting it with --disable-ip-origin-check

Yeah, no, the disable ip origin check did NOT work. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) I've got a static IP, with an open 8443 port, that is tested open, yet the client successfully starts the internal HTTP server, but gives this error - FAIL_CONNECT_TEST:couldn't connect to host
