Compared to the main hit of my normal attack, it seems that Shield Bash and Vital Strike both do about 3.5 times damage, Merciful Blow does about 11 times damage, and Vital Strike on a Stunned enemy does about 20 times damage. This is roughly consistent with tests I had done many years ago.
If using that wiki formula for Skill_Multiplier, which seems quite unlikely to be the proper formula by this point, that would mean Shield Bash ≈ 7, Vital Strike ≈ 3.5, Vital Strike ≈ 20 if enemy is Stunned, and Merciful Blow ≈ 5.5
Comparing with the 2H skills and strictly applying the same wiki formula for Skill_Multiplier we get Shatter Strike ≈ 2.5, Rending Blow ≈ 3.5, Great Cleave ≈ 12.5
So in conclusion, Great Cleave was always pretty Great after all, and in my opinion DJNoni was kind of complaining about nothing. Which Tenboro probably already knew, having access to the original data which should be much more accurate than this, so Tenboro settled on a compromise (Great Cleave was granted the ability to always crit, rather than a straight doubling or more of damage DJNoni essentially felt was warranted, which would have been a bit ridiculous).
Basically, in the latest revision of the isekai patch, Great Cleave should be about equal damage to Vital Strike on a Stunned enemy. As I suggested before in the new isekai thread, the recent requests by a few players for improvements to DW and 2H were perhaps over-the-top in some ways. Still, that is what's needed if melee styles want to approach mage, which seems to be what some members are pushing for. (And it might also be fair considering the weirdness that is currently going on with deprecating spells and players even considering mage charms on melee weapons).
Would be nice if someone could refine my tests, or just ask Tenboro for the Persistent proper formulas and data. The other styles would be good to know, also. From various crude tests that I and others did many years ago, Backstab and Frenzied Blows likely have huge multipliers too, if someone were to test properly.
