No, it's because the sensor and lenses are too small. People think phones and compact cameras are Just As Good, and they aren't. It's not meaningfully related to camera age, there were full-frame DSLRs 25 years ago, and 35mm film cameras 100 years ago, and full-sized digital camera image quality hasn't changed much in 10 years. Most of the improvements over the past 10 years have been in tracking autofocus, videography features, and burst rate, so you can easy-button the eagle-striking-a-fish picture. If you're going to be shooting over 9000 cosplay hos, you can afford $2k once for a quality camera body, or half of that used. They don't go obsolete that quickly either. The problem is people who don't know what they're doing.
