Why?

Karma for whoever can tell him the apparently not-so-obvious answer.

I'm assuming that is the exact analytical formula, given its similarity to the one for primary stats and the fact that it has a nice round 500 in it. But if you want to work out a way of fitting pi in there somehow, be my guest...

No thanks. This is exactly the type of thing numerical methods were made for. However, you probably could find the exact analytical solution if the collected data were 100% accurate, which it isn't since there are hidden unknown decimal values. This solution is well within the level of accuracy needed for what it's being used for.

The data is 100% accurate unless Tenboro tells me otherwise. The decimals do exist, I simply rounded them to simulate the actual numbers that the system uses. If you look at the source page, everything related to EXP is rounded which makes sense since it'd be pointless to even consider decimals when numbers go as high as the nonillions.

Well, it does depend greatly on the function one chooses.
Using pure data extrapolation (without any guesswork):

On a graph because everyone loves graphs:

Attached Image

Blue function = interpolating function
Red function = approximated function

They stay the same until about level ~280

Character attribute EXP formula ----> (level + 1)^(1.8932743^( 1 + level / 400))

Character level EXP formula ----> (level + 5)^((1.8932743 + pi / 10.03318263060212)^(1 + level / 500))

I'm almost 100% certain that pi wouldn't enter into it like that. The number is what it is because it gives 9,999,999 EXP to reach level 200, not because it's some other number with something added to it.

Also, rather than arguing about regression and extrapolation and so on, perhaps some level 300+ people would care to comment on the accuracy of the numbers given by the (assumed) formula at their levels? If it still works for them, it's probably right...

I only added pi into the equation because Tenboro is "almost positive" it involves pi.

Pi is involved in ANY exponential function as is Euler's (im)famous constant 'e'. However, I don't remember seeing Pi involved unless there's a complex or imaginary exponent... Like e^-Pi*2i for example.

So how the hell do we get imaginary experience? Oh wait... it's all imaginary since it's a game. *groan* (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Clearly now my goal is to reach level 788.

I'm a bit late, but shouldn't that be level 706 for the next sanity limit break ?

CODE
706: 18,605,809,279,212,597,248

CODE
2^64 = 18,446,744,073,709,551,616

I guess it would help if I copied the right level and not just the one that looked right at first glance. It doesn't matter. It would take me 10 years just to get to 500.

Won't be a problem once 128-bit comes out. I'm pretty sure before we even get anywhere close to 706, we would already have 256-bit computers or better so that limit is pretty moot. And according to Tenboro, we will hit the next limit at 603 due to the nature of the data type that EXP is stored as.

No doubt. (And all the extra Auras and Hath Perks and Training that you can get your hands on... Darn you, Tenboro, for taking away our ability to donate!)

Well, at the very least, I can tell you what it's NOT: the point where you completely run out of things to spend ability points on. Even without spending a credit on Ability Boost training, you'd still max that list out by no later than level 687.

(IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Grindfest here I come...
