You sound like you used Internet Explorer in 2003.
I used Firebird in 2003. Back when
it was the best browser.

You also sound like a Tesla owner who bought one because Consumer Reports gave it a ridiculously high score rather than from any misguided attempt to be "green."
"Best" is a highly relative term.
I use Seamonkey. Fully customizable and also not brain dead like chromium.
Copium. What do I care how "brain dead" a browser is if I'm not the person developing it? It works. It works better than Firefox. That's all I care about. What happens under the hood is none of my concern.

There's nothing as soy as an overly simplistic world view where nothing matters below the surface level.
Why would it matter to me? I'm not talking of stuff that's simply hidden from the user, like privacy violations. Of course things can matter even if they happen under the surface. But why on earth would I care about the inner workings of the webkit or whatever lines of code make the website appear in front of me, or how "brain dead" they are, if the result is superior to other alternatives?

Freedom isn't obtained by acquiescing/flocking to the most convenient option. Freedom takes sacrifices.
Yes, I am implying you do not care about actual freedom and like the commercialization of the web, and that you do not value the idea of an open platform where everyone can share information freely.
Using a Google-funded Mozilla browser is not the activist stand you seem to think it is. If I cared about privacy I'd stay off the internet. If I cared about freedom I'd stop using computers.
