I just read the Wikipedia article about Panty & Stocking (With Garterbelt) and my head hurts. Why did someone create this garbage?

The only reason I could come up with would be to make Gurren Lagann fans scream. Which is a rather admirable goal.

Better question: Why are there people who watch it?

I have seen almost every anime Gainax did (there actually aren't that many). Following is a list I just compiled of good vs. shit vs. will never watch (and some reasons):

The good:

• Evangelion
• The Daicons (if you haven't watched this yet, you should)
• Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water
• Mahoromatic
• Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (I understand why some don't like it, but sometimes I like to watch anime not to think, and only to relax, and this anime gave me that - thoughtless, enjoyable action)
• Hanamaru Youchien
• Diebuster
• Otaku no Video
• Cutie Honey

The bad and very ugly:

• FLCL ( making an anime for the sake of it being weird, just so you can pretend to be Hideaki Anno is not on my list of smart things to do)
• Abenobashi (Gainax blatantly rips off Excel Saga)
• He is my Master (why the fuck did I watch this?)
• Kare to Kano ( I can see how people like it, but I personally am not a big fan of shoujo anime)
• This Ugly yet Beautiful World
• Melody of Oblivion

The ones I will never, ever watch:

• Ebichu (PedoHamster once recommended it on the forums as one of his favorites of all time. This is seriously the only reason I have to not watch it, and frankly it is more than enough)
• Panty and Stocking (the name sounds ridiculous, and the plot sounds ridiculous, and anyone who watches it is ridiculous by association)

There are others, but I'm mostly partial to anything not mentioned in this list.

I knew I forgot something. I also wasn't a fan of Melody of Oblivion - gonna put that one there too. I should have looked at the list earlier, rather than recalling from memory.

I liked Ebichu. It was stupid and juvenile.

You also forgot The Wings of Honneamise and Puchi Puri Yucie. The former was epic flying and the latter was tripe. And I guess of you count Blazing Transfer Student, which was pretty hilarious and over the top.

How many people here, via the act of watching subbed anime, can understand even a little of what they're listening to?
