QUOTE(cmal @ Sep 26 2010, 23:44) QUOTE(Boggyb @ Sep 26 2010, 23:30) QUOTE(cmal @ Sep 26 2010, 23:25) QUOTE(Boggyb @ Sep 26 2010, 23:18) (Am I the only one who would go to the effort of collecting that conversation in a giant series of quotes?)
A better question would be why can't we collect quotes within quotes without having to do it manually? It is a pain to program? It should be a standard forum function? I don't recall having seen it on any forum I've been on...

Pretty sure ProBoards can do it, and those are crappy.

Is that because they go to the effort to design useless features like that instead of things that are important?

QUOTE(3d0xp0xy @ Sep 27 2010, 05:35) Let's not forget that Dumbledoor [sic] is not "in life", and thus is not real. Therefore, it's what the creator says that matters, whether that intention did or did not succeed in the eyes of the readers. The creator only does half the work. Once the words are written, it's me who is reading them and using my imagination to turn them into a semblance of life. So, what creator thinks is convenient and matters only if one wants to have something in common with other readers on the perception of the work, and need a reference point. Otherwise one doesn't have to care. Edit: typos This post has been edited by Dlaglacz: Sep 27 2010, 11:56

will see how that goes, even if you could somehow manipulate me into buying new cheesy poofs for you, I would just end up destroying them just to spite you! Also, I would eat all the popcorn for myself, because popkorn is the yums. agreed, mostly anyways, sometimes I wonder though if the author just doesn't throw things in afterward just to piss people off. Either way, if the author thought it was clear in her book and no one else thought so, then it's just how the reader perceives it, if it's something that you don't think holds true, then get over it and think what you want about the "said" character. Here. For the people who actually gave a shit about it on the last few pages: QUOTE NEW YORK (AP) - Will J.K. Rowling write another book about Harry Potter?
That's among the topics discussed on Oprah Winfrey's first interview with the author, whom she met recently in Edinburgh, Scotland. The interview will air Friday on Winfrey's television program. That ought to be funny. If Oprah is her usual self, she'll just act like she's bored while she's interviewing her and say "uh-huh" and "wow" like she normally does. Except when she is browbeating people and proving she doesn't understand that difference between narrative voice and author.

Works just fine in PMs. In fact, it's excluding quotes-within-quotes that requires special programming. Though why such a feature would be required in a thread of ostensibly random thoughts is a mystery...

Maybe J/K Rowling will explain Dumbledork's homosexuality. And then maybe she'll reveal that he's also into bestiality and bangs unicorns. Or maybe she's saving that for a prequel. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
