The scenario you describe doesn't exactly strike me as "typical"...

I'm driving an ignition coil hard enough to get something around 100kv from it's output. To keep the corona down, and keep every part in this setup from arcing like mad, I have to put the whole thing under oil. A point of exposed metal in air at 100kv can arc to anything in a 1 1/2" radius. I'm trying to use the JB to seal the dozen or so wires going to parts in the oil bath.
So in other words, a pretty typical, sane, household use.
