Your use of the modal "could" instead of something more definitive such as "will" along with the "why bother?" made it reasonable for me to think you wouldn't do it.

Don't make me start quoting linguistic philosophy as to how communication is a combination of implications and inferences. If one does not "assume", most communication is impossible to understand.

I presume you're assuming again, Boggy, because that seems to be your pathology. I believe the master was trying to say, "I don't know for sure what I'd want to do when the time comes, tomorrow." and not, "Do you understand what I just said? Because I don't." like you inferred to have thought, as though he were stupid. He's not making any promises, but don't assume that means he'll never do it, or he won't. Nobody'll like doing things for you, if you keep up with the pessimistic jerk attitude, always.
