I suppose it was because he was in on the meme culture in 2016. He's still a tech entrepreneur who mainly makes money by selling off companies. I am not a fan of Tesla though. He's marginally better than the US billionaires that make their money by shorting stocks and manipulating the press.

Tesla mainly makes it money through exploitation in US and China. Its heavily dependent on govt subsidies and lax tax and labor rules where possible.

Mainlander friends don't like him because they blame him for starting the involution cycle of EV company wars.

I am so happy to be back at my home and have been working on the new project for the next two weeks so I’m just going on a little break right after I finish up the new project so that I don’t miss any of my work out and then I’ll go back and get the old stuff done and I can start my new job and get my own house and I have my house ready to sell so I don’t really feel like I’m gonna be doing a whole lot more stuff but I am going through the house right now so it’s gonna be really busy with the new construction.
