What if death note was actually just big pharma blaming all the deaths on a student that had teenage schizophrenia. The deaths continued when he was isolated and he made up the delusion that the death note could be passed on. Its kinda weird they assumed it was a magical criminal rather than a pandemic or medical issue pretty quickly.

All the people that died were in occupations that were compelled to take the vaccines and prisoners who can be compelled as well.

Most of the deaths were males in the 19- 40 age range as well.

True and false. They did have a history of Shinigami but they didn't believe they were real. So curse-murder epidemics were really but in the Death note lore they were blamed on famine and plagues most of the time in their history.

Though the shinigami say that the humans that use the death notes always get found out.

They don't specifically mention how governments reacted in the past, the present world governments treated it like nuclear weapons when they get a hold of them.
