Panics are good for scammers since it creates a rush to buy situation where peoples' carelessness becomes more exposed. In the early days of eBay when it was still a new and hot service, people would sell empty product boxes with the similar fine print that people didn't read.

Costco toilet paper returned to the thickness it had in 2017 before the environmentalists convinced Costco to use less virgin fiber in their TP. Conversely, Sam's Club had experimented with selling a 3-ply thick toilet paper and at it's low price, it blew Costco's new thinner paper out of the toilet bowl. Alas, Sam's thinned back to 2 ply when Costco had thinner paper. In the past year, Costco went back to their pre-pandemic thickness, but the sheet count decreased from 435 to now be 380 sheets per roll.
