Depends, really. For the last few years, I've been feeling fucking depressed, and it's only recently (read: this month) that I managed to pick myself up. Obviously, this could have been resolved if I'd sought psychological help, but I was at a phase where logical advice like that was rejected outright.

If I hadn't, I'd still be in despair over my future, I suppose.

You maybe learned somewhat harshly from mistakes as a kid. You were probably quite idealistic and upbeat at one stage but were beat down (metaphorically) for it. Now I think you value things like responsibility, hard work and loyalty. You still have that slightly childish aspect of wanting to join the clique that smokes and swears and look down on others that might take your friends away.

radixius: blatant sarcasm, inspiring scornful pity. He might say he's no good, or wish we wouldn't compliment him, as he has no significant role, but I'm somehow more comfortable when he's around. In many situations, he appears to have a hidden sophistication about his mannerisms, under all the ambiguity of his bad attitude/incredible wit. Like an advanced employer, he doesn't reveal what's really on his mind, until he's certain. He doesn't bear too many grudges—if any—from what I can tell, but "admits" when you've become insufferable and forced him to become displeased, hoping you're happy. His ego is apparently on lay-away, as of late, because he hasn't been shitting all over anybody, like he famously used to. Now he more or less helps even those he still dislikes, to their estrangement, if they don't understand his veiled personality or constructive criticism. He often acts disgruntled, or ever so rarely, pacified—to whatever end best suits the comedic atmosphere. He forbids and draws ire from his own positive reinforcement, yet he certainly doesn't protest too much else. He goes through phases of apathy/compassion, disrespectful/respectful, belittling/supportive—but all in all, it either does, or he believes it will (pretending) negatively affect his reputation, anyway, albeit never caring about its preservation. And despite his typical attitude, he appears to have a well-hidden soft spot for us, his jack-off buddies.
