Resealing the road to prevent the gravel from breaking loose and floating like little rocks is a multiweek process here due to the curing time of the deep crack treatment. At the beginning, a sweeper truck goes by making sure any large debris is gone. The vehicle with the air compressors follows with hoses going out to several people with air wands as they walk along the road surface spraying air into any cracks to drive out dirt and sand in them. Another truck then comes with people spraying liquid bitumen into the exposed cracks. Any holes or depressions in the road get smoothed out and filled in with patching material. The road resurfacing company then leaves it alone for several days. They then come back to clean the road, inspect it, and then resurface the whole surface with some water-based bitumen slurry. They have those roller vehicles roll over the messy stuff to make sure it is driven down into the road surface with some pressure.
It works well and we don't get little rocks appearing. When the rocks appear, that actually is "too late" and the only proper maintenance then is to resurface the road. We've never let it get to that point, so it's a thankful thing the neighborhood is full of prosperous homeowners with the money to keep doing maintenance. If this was a neighborhood full of social welfare recipients, I don't think there is much money for road maintenance then and the road would look worn out.

I thought that was just for private roads or gated communities?
One place I went had a problem because the bridge was on the border so they were arguing who was responsible to repair it. Originally it was jointly funded, but they disagreed over maintenance, but that was also after offshore owners took over one of them (CCP), and they dislike maintaining/renovating properties.
Similar thing happened to one relative, they made the poor decision to privatize the management and they got CCP investors but then they let everything run down and the conspiracy theory was that it was to drive people out and gain the marina and properties for cheap. It worked. They drove everyone out and probably made a heap of money afterwards.

Wouldn't the city be responsible for the maintenance here? I suppose its a problem of corrupt city councils.
I heard of a new scam in a lot of Dem cities, where they are issuing fines over stupid crap then not informing people then seizing their houses. They then pass the property over to a separate liquidator (which local politicians have vested interests) and can sell the property. I heard HoAs in the US can do it too when you owe a little as $2000.
Yes, before the fall of Rome, urban elites and populations were obsessed with social hierarchy and belonging to in crowds performing acts and believing in theories unrelated to reality. They vigorously defended policies that ignored the real world even as they were collapsing or the barbarians were at the gates. Political elites made policies based on what was increasingly narrow to be social acceptable to maintain power but ignoring the real world and the people on the ground.
Around the world in the west, politics is being determined by the upper class in urban areas and urban middle class that want to join the upper class social groups. They are obsessed with theories that do not put food on the plate, let alone improve society. Like in Rome, we saw in the US, people violently protecting beliefs that can only exist in urban society. The frustrated middle class, whose standard of living is going backwards, want to join the social elites so adopt attitudes, beliefs and rituals (disconnected from their actual well being). The elites wishing to maintain power also double down on the BS and make it a per-requisite for entry into the social circles. Purity of the attitudes/beliefs as well as performative actions that don't actually fix anything become the norm.
The CCP went through a similar phenomenon in the past with the great leap forward with the Beijing / Shanghai elites completely disconnected from the reality on the ground and efforts focused on performative actions, like destroying all your farming tools to produce iron instead of focusing on food. This cost 40-60m lives. Before that a few centuries earlier the Chinese dynasties were the height of the world economy before adopting isolationist policies and focusing on the social elites isolated in the big cities and courts.
Rome collapsed by refusing to acknowledge or respond to famine, natural disasters, and war.
Ancient Egypt became obsessed with the spiritual afterlife and used its wealth for self focused religion and to create giant monuments for the elites and ignored food, famine, war etc.
In the west now: - War before food production, the global fertilizer supply chain is disrupted, even for western countries. - Performative care for the environment, currently wind turbines and solar cells are producing vast quantities of very expensive waste and being produced in a way that creates a lot of pollution. We will also rely on lithium batteries which currently relies on actual and near slave labor for the supply chain. - Rather than address inequity or corruption through hard work, we have performative slogans, rallies and performative riots. - To enter upper society, receive accolades/awards or be accepted by society you must adhere to attitudes and values that have no use outside of urban centers and especially do not address the underlying cause of problems. To fight systematic racism, in the US, they elected as president, the man that wrote the bill that put millions of minorities in prison and as VP they chose the woman that sent innocent people to prison and rejected parole for hundreds of thousands to maintain the levels of cheap prison labor. Urban elites and middle class also found the previous president, whose focus was on addressing real issues but rejected the social norms and values of the urban upper class, socially risky to support. Focusing on real issues in the west is a risk to your social standing. This is very Rome before the collapse. Previously we would admire, acknowledge and venerate those that dedicated themselves to improving society or resolving real issues.
All it will take is continuing pointless wars, ignoring real economic issues and ignoring famine for the US to go the way of Rome. Its going to affect more countries though. Sri Lanka is going bankrupt. Pakistan and Turkey are at extreme risk. In fact experts are saying there are 74 countries now at risk compared to five a few years ago.

FFFFUUUU, I was tailgating some weeb trying to read the anime stickers on his car. He brake-checked me and I almost crashed my mom's SUV.
I have one sticker on my wagon, and it says "USA" (ironically). That sticker was on it because of the last owner. I guess there's also a couple volvo badges, but that's it. I generally don't buy anime merch.
