Amazed and delighted, Wang Xiang scooped them up and carried them home to his ailing mother.

Seeing the two live fish, Wang Xiang's stepmother felt thoroughly ashamed of her selfishness. Afterwards, she changed her attitude towards her stepson, and became a kind and caring person. Many people said that Wang Xiang's response came from his sincere filial devotion. His noble attitude moved Nature into giving him a reward."

That would mean saving money is bad and spending money immediately (hyper consumerism) is good. Owning stuff instead of owning money is also what people revert to doing in historical examples where huge inflation occurred.

Some socialist people campaigning for Congress have minimum wage platforms of $20 or even as high as $30. One of them has a chance as she is the #2 scoring candidate in 2020. She is running again in 2022 with her $30 minimum wage and $2000 UBI platform as the way to deal with inflation and high housing costs.

With respect to Rebecca Parsons' concerns, as an example from her greater metropolitan area of $15/hr being the floor of what someone makes with the business still being highly profitable, there is the Dick's hamburger chain. The fast food chain also supports single parents with childcare cost assistance. The food at this chain remains cheaper than McD, so high benefits doesn't mean high prices if the patriotic corporation is willing to sacrifice some of its profit to support the country and community around it.

Parsons isn't the only one wanting minimum wage to be raised above $15/hr. This past September 2021, Robert Reich, who was Secretary of Labor under the Clinton administration, tweeted, “Today seems like a good time to remind you that if wages had kept pace with productivity gains over the last 50 years, the minimum wage would be $24 an hour.” He clarified that "$15 is the floor, not the ceiling, of what working people deserve."

I like that idea. Although $30 seems a high, since not everyone is single and supporting a child or lives in California.

If a company won't pay its workers enough for them to live comfortably, though, I question whether we want to lower our standards for them. Why do they deserve to stay in business if they can't even provide for their employees and stay profitable?

It reminds me of the "too big to fail" concept. Socialism for companies, capitalism for the rest of us. Why people would put corporate welfare ahead of human welfare is beyond my understanding.

In USD, my country's minimum wage is $15. That is the highest on the planet. Most of the top economies are around $10 USD an hour.
