Yeah that's how I feel, but I just don't see how it's that much harder to step on a cat than a puppy. When the cat is not wide awake, of course. So I have problems with that specific line of reasoning.
Been doing 80s manga art studies again, think I might be starting to figure it out.
Now if I can just get it to the point where this doesn't take multiple hours and referencing existing material to achieve, that'd be perfect. Because if I have an art style, damn it, I am determined that it should look something like this. Not necessarily identical - but closer to this than whatever the hell it is I currently do on autopilot. Hair is easy - face shape and eyes are of course the most difficult.

I have a ~3.5 foot tall teddy. Make of that what you will. I've had it since I was a kid.
