QUOTE(Anto of the Sand @ Apr 9 2010, 09:13) ![*](style_images/ambience/post_snapback.gif) That would be a yes then.
That would be a strong no on Prop 16. They need a super majority to pass that shit anyway, if they then have to take it to the voters as well, the California legislator will be even slower than it already is. For fuck's sake, we are the only state in the union to require a 2/3rds majority to pass a fucking budget. Our state was in a recession when the rest of the country was in an economic boom. The democrats in the California legislature have even less balls then the ones in the Federal legislature. Grow a spine and stick up for the people, damn you! If the Republicans have their way, they'd burn the poor for energy.

QUOTE(BradRepko @ Apr 9 2010, 09:04) ![*](style_images/ambience/post_snapback.gif) Vote yes on Prop 16 my ass! It takes a two-thirds majority to get a budget passed in this state as it is, which is why we've been in a deficit for over a decade. Tying the legislature's hands and making them have to go to the voters for certain concessions is only going to make passing a budget longer, and we haven't passed a god damn budget on time in over five years. Plus, after the whole Enron debacle, if the legislature sees an oncoming crisis, they need to to nip it in the bud immediately and not wait for a special election.
I shouldn't be surprised, but your lack of understanding is mindboggling. Incidentally, the Democrats are going to ruin the state of California. Our tax rate is high, but they are going to increase it even more to pay for their insane entitlements and end up driving businesses out of the state in droves. The only reasonable way to reduce the budget deficit is to decrease costs, but when Schwarzenegger made cuts in the last budget with his line-item veto they went to court to reinstate them.

Admittedly, I haven't looked at the actual the Prop yet, so I could be very, very wrong about this one, but it smells like a trap to me. For the most part I agree with you there, though. The Democrats cut all the wrong social programs, and they waste all this money on these bullshit programs that do nothing to help anyone. The anti drug and anti smoking programs are the first ones they should eliminate. I'm all for social welfare, but if kids in this day and age start smoking, even I say fuck'em! They need to regulate the money they actually do spend of social welfare programs so it doesn't all get wasted, as their is little oversight and the money is helping too few people. If they want to raise taxes, they should take a page from Obama's book and raise them only on the wealthy. A tax hike on a rich person might mean they have to buy a smaller yacht, while a tax hike on the poor can mean deciding whether to pay for food or meds. By the way, is it just me or do these days you seem a bit gentler when talking to me these days? Even when criticizing me, you don't seem as hostile as before. *hugs* QUOTE(Anto of the Sand @ Apr 9 2010, 09:54) ![*](style_images/ambience/post_snapback.gif) I couldn't care less, I don't live wer u doooo.
Funny, I don't recall asking. Also, I have serious doubts about whether you give a fuck about the poor and disfranchised people where you live, Anto. You also strike me as the type of person who doesn't vote. This post has been edited by BradRepko: Apr 9 2010, 19:21

Why would we want to do that? We want to fix the problem, not make it much, much worse. His fiscal policy is like that of every President since Reagan at least, god awful. Anyway, the federal government plays by vastly different rules than the state in that they don't have to have a balanced budget. QUOTE(BradRepko @ Apr 9 2010, 10:14) ![*](style_images/ambience/post_snapback.gif) If they want to raise taxes, [they should] raise them only on the wealthy.
The wealthy, along with businesses, are the ones paying the most taxes already. Expecting them to shoulder the whole of the tax burden is absurd. Also, I have a strong feeling that you misunderstand how taxes operate on the state level. (Personal) Income taxes make up a lesser percentage of the tax base than property taxes and sales taxes.

We have different views on politics, it seems. Since I'm trying to get along with you, I'll try not to talk politics with you, or contradict your political views when you post them, since it will only lead to pointless arguments with no agreement. That being said, I don't hate you. *hugs*

I honestly don't like having hostilities with people. I'd much rather be making friends, giving compliments, and bringing joy to others. In that sense, the difference between me and a whore is that I don't charge for my services. To him, we're left-wing nut jobs; bleeding heart liberals. (honestly, I'm quite proud of later; but I digress, Boggyb is entitled to his opinions, and no one has the right to force him to care) Also... boooobs! This post has been edited by BradRepko: Apr 9 2010, 20:37

What exactly did I say that justifies calling me a "right-wing loony"? That Obama's fiscal policy is insane? Reagen and Bush Jr.'s fiscal policy were equally insane. That the rich shouldn't shoulder the whole of the tax burden? That you can't tax businesses indefinitely before they leave to find somewhere more tax friendly? Both of those are common sense or should be. The left seems to disagree about the former and doesn't realize/care about the latter. That entitlement programs are insane? It is not the governments job to subsidize everyone's existence indefinitely, regardless of the cost. Costs have to be kept in check, and they're not. That IS insane. People disagreeing with you is not a reason to resort to partisan rhetoric.

I must admit I wasn't entirely serious. You're not a loony. Still, US politics are very, very right-wing compared to most of the rest of the world.
