I've started to learn Mandarin recently, I'm blaffled about how simple the grammar is. Complete joke next to Japanese.
There are also plenty of words that I can guess because the hanzi is the same as in Japanese. I'm thinking this might actually get real easy.

EDIT: And plus, the characters don't have a shit ton of possible readings like in Japanese. You gotta know much more of them than in Japanese, but in Japanese every individual one takes far more effort to fully memorize.
