Serious Debates hasn't been posted in since November 19th. I hope the streak continues.

Serious Debates is a serious bore. So much pedantry for me and I am a pedantic bastard.

They even made me mad, and I'm a pretty chill dude.

Serious debates was supposed to be an area for rational conversation, share opinions, correct fallacies e.t.c,
but with people who aimed mostly for blank philosophy, intelligence competition or express their subjective
thought(s) without giving a shit for other's opinion, this place have turned into a joke.

I mean fuck, now I respect General Chat more than this place.

I agree, and the problem with that place is that while the subforum may have some rules, the threads themselves don't. This is the internet. Any sort of unstructured discussion will turn into a huge shitstorm. Add some stupid worthless politeness rule, and you'll get a polite sounding, passive-aggressive natured shitstorm.
I still think that SD needs a revival, one where it's the norm to structure the debates more strictly. If we just give it some format, like who is pro and who is con, introductions, questions and answers, rebuttals, and most importantly, a fucking CONCLUSION... then we may end up with some debates that are worth reading (remember that the point of a real debate is to inform the audience, not really to convince the opponent... that just rarely works anyway).
Next time some interesting subject pops up, we should at least try something like this.

And keep the subjective judgement for ourselves, otherwise any debate will never end up to a conclusion.
Not that I'm an exception though (I haven't forget my 1st reaction to the incest thing, mind that), like any
ordinary person I'm just another being who's learning from his mistakes.

Do people playing the word association game actually enjoy it? Or is it some kind of weird conditioned response from being taught that post counts matter? (I'm making the assumption they don't know or care that their actual post count is not affected by FSZ)

Man, I remember the days when compassion and mercy actually meant something and weren't just names that black people gave their kids.

My cousin named her white kid Grace.

I was like... "Really?"

It just reflects wishful thinking by the parent, and it never works out, it just sets them up for failure. Every Grace is a klutz, every Chastity is a stripper, and every Destiny is a nobody with no future.

I take exception to parents giving their daughters boys' names par example: Samson. I'm pretty sure having a name like Samson should require having a penis.

EDIT: Incidentally, is it wrong to have the urge to yell out "dyke!" when I hear a woman utter the word girlfriend in referrence to her female friend?
