I had one show to watch today, just one, Wanda Sykes. I've been waiting all week too because Craig Ferguson is on it. Then Wanda bring out her panel and the local station fucks up and cuts off all the sound for five minutes. Bloody fuckin' hell!

Could've been the local station, or the big network's Satellite Master Control, or your cable provider, or a localized problem with your copper wires, or any other number of things.

This happened about a week ago on the same channel. It only affects that channel, and we are almost certain that it is at the station. The local stations here frequently screw up, which is rather ridiculous since Sacramento is the capitol of the 9th largest economy in the world, and we can't even get our local television stations to transmit their signals without falling asleep at the controls. Fuck!

Brad, I work at a television station as a Master Control Operator. There are a billion things that could go wrong and it's not just on the local end. Fox affiliates are notorious for big network screw-ups, so it's not always on the little guys.

A Harris DiamondCD as our main transmitter we peak at about 80 percent or else it loses its mind, and an older Harris tube model that has gone defunct. We also have a short Harris digital backup in house that we don't use due to its weak signal.

Two channels, eighteen hours of local programming on one, CBS' nonsense on the other, countless commercials, both local and national to ingest, time out, make sure they run, logging times of programming and commercials, and dealing with the random mishap for forty hours a week isn't all that bad. Because, since you get right down to it, it's a job where I sit and watch TV eight hours a day five times a week,

How many kilowatts is the tube one?

It's been a good year or so since we used the old tube amp, since it's analog only. I want to say 700 Kilos, but I could be off by a couple hundred, at least.
